Long Trip in a 993TT...what would you bring
There is a good chance I will be making a 2800 mile trip in a 993 TT in the coming weeks.
Heres my plan so far:
1. Blue painters tape for mirrors, front bumper and hood, leading A pillar edges, rear wheel well fronts, and leading edge of rear wing.
2. Spare DME relay and spare alt/fan belts
3. 3 quarts of oil (M1 15w-50 or some Brad Penn/Swepco 20w-50 if i can find it)
4. Battery for remote
5. Some basic hand tools
Any other things you guys recommend?
Thanks

Make sure you have a functioning air pump for spare tire in case of a flat
Need plenty of water for your radiator in case of overheat (just kidding)
Flash light
Safety triangles to place on road (I've seen some made of cloth material that are assembled and disassembled)
Tire gauge to check pressures periodically
Have fun!

+1 on the flashlight. Get one of those new LED kind - they're small but incredibly bright.
Funnel for oil and names of good rennlisters along your route in case of emergency.

CC for gas, absolutely
GPS will have to look into
Sunglasses, check
Current route is LA to Vegas, Vegas to Amarillo, tx, then Amarillo to Dallas, Dallas to Knoxville, and Knoxville to home.
Hopefully no snow involved there.

Is oil going to come out of the vents or something???? I hopefully (read, hopefully) have the coordination to not get oil all over myself, although who knows.
I'm hoping the blue painters tape gets rid of the need for bug and tar remover.
Steve, thanks, waiting on a PPI for now.

Lots and lots of gas money.
Why bother with the tape? Come on and live a little!
You won't be able to stick to your philosophy of never going 5 mph over the speedlimit in this car... so you better invest in a Valentine 1. Just sayin'...
Have a great trip. You will remember it always.

Oliver,
Adding a quart of oil to a 993TT is actually quite an adventure. The oil filler cap is partially hidden by the intercooler (hence the funnel), and its hard to manuever without getting a drop or two spilled or on your hands (in my case... 1/2 a quart in my hair, but that's another story).
