I think it was intended as a "private test track" disclaimer.

Default Question for AL

Hello Al

The invoice that you posted shows "Intake Air Filter 996" Is this in a different airbox to standard? If so do you have any pictures / details of the modification?
What are the new KN filters that you are planning?

best regards
Steve

Steve,

Here are two pics of the engine bay, first one sans IC (note independent intakes), second with IC. Not sure exactly which K&N filters Protosport plans to use for the upgrade.

Is this MAF or MAP based?

Looks like the MAF could be post intercooler and pre throttle body, certainly an interesting plan.

There's several 944 turbos running like this, including ( the one that used to be ) mine.

Yes guys, it's MAF-based, to keep consistent with the OBD-II programming. Protosport/Protomotive does a speed density-based program with an OBD-I ECU derived from the 1995 993 Carrera, but I needed to stick with OBD-II for New York State inspection requirements.

Nice going Jussi. I've never seen a modern rain gutter setup done like yours. Aready pulled the trigger to have mine just ground off, oh well.
I remember you modded your intake plumbing which is my current focus. The original snorkle grabs cool air for the engine but is supposedly too restrictive. Grabbing air from the engine bay decreases the restriction but ups the engine temps which in my case has become a real issue... Maybe functional turbo S scoops are the answer. :P
Anyway, stick some gum on that gauge and you should be good.

Thanks,
Yes I have modified intake pipes to bigger. I datalogged pressurevalues at turbo inlet and with stock pipes (ID 50mm or something) pressure was over -0.2 bar from 1atm and with bigger 3 inch pipes pressure was about -0.1bar max(+300km/h) from 1atm and that is over 0.1x (can't remember exact numbers) bar useless restriction which multiply when effecting through engine. So that mod is must if you have +600hp/+300km/h TT

Hello

I had a look into the MAF layout, and it appears that OEM's normally site the MAF pre turbo and pre any crankcase breather to minimise oil contamination of the MAF.
That said if this isn't an issue, it does seem to offer some advantages in intake plumbing on the 993TT.

This winter, in addition to the turbo upgrade, Protosport will do additional work as follows:
1. Tial Sport 44mm wastegate valves
2. Larger K&N air cleaners
3. Porsche 993 Motorsport solid motor mounts
4. Brake upgrade from 993TT stock (? Brembo)

And here is what Protosport did for my engine build last winter:

WHAT RECESSION?????
