Just a thought came up, if financially its still tight when I come into the market, and things continue the way they are going I MAY have to consider the 996 TT. If things continue the 996 TT maybe 10K cheaper than the 993. What do you guys think about that.
Gene will I be able to sit in a lower car with this flexible fusion procedure? Thats the deal breaker.
I am talking about next summer too, I wont be properly healed till next spring then I will start looking.
I dont think there are any arena red 996 TTs. I dont know much about them but that their cheaper.
Now that I know how to detail a car like a pro, BLACK might not be bad!! I can correct paint jobs now.
Paul, glad to see you returning to the P car fold, I hope your surgery goes well.
Per the 996TT, I think they are the best deal out there right now. You will have no trouble finding a very nice example for relatively cheap. By then you may even want to look at a slightly used 997TT, they seem to be dropping precipitously with the rest of the economy.

With a successful procedure I am pretty confident you would be able to even sit in an Exige

LOL... that's a good one Scott!! I don't own a RUF but as you know we have many friends that do and one here very close to me. We're looking for a runway strip to test his Turbo R...

But yes, I believe C.J's Andial is up for sale...

Yep, looking for a runway. But I am confident that I will have to park and wait for someone.

Scott
too bad Frank was still not for sale!! CJ's would be the first one I would look for and he and I have already talked about it. But the problem is my being ready to be in the market. I may be looking up to a 2 year period once I recover and CJ may need to sell before that.

Doug, Youre right and if things continue the way they are, there may be no choice. I will keep the AMG for a while, its just a hoot to drive. Plus I have a Back seat!
I am going to Willow springs next weekend and I was trying to decide which friend to take and it never dawned on me that I could take them both. I am so used to having a 911 with only one adult seat.
So I CAN take both!!!
But yes if people keep asking 85K for the 993 TT and the 996 (or 977)TT will be the best bet.
Over all the 996 doesnt have the panache that the 993 does, the overall best ever looking 911.
But the 996 is an improvement over the 993 and I could find an X50 for 20-30K less than the 993 then it will be an unfortunate no brainer.

Okay, I'm going to hijack my thread back

Dismounted the tires in preperation to sending the Mg wheels back to Ruf. Pretty alarmed to see the difference in wear between the front and rear tires after only 1200 miles. The fronts look as I would expect (very good) and the rears are about half way worn already .

I have 245/19's in the front. With the new 11" rear wheels I am going with wider tires. 305's are about .5" taller and 315's are about .5" smaller in diameter than the 245's up front. I believe I read on here that it is better to have a smaller diameter rear tire (I know the goal is to have the exact same diameter but nothing perfectly matches the 245's) than a taller rear tire. I can't go with a 255 up front which matches in height to the
315's because the 245's already slightly rub with a rolled fender.

So what is the consensus, 305's or 315's? Thanks

Front wear after 1200 miles- 245-35/19

Rear wear after 1200 miles- 285-30/19

Scott,

Will the new wheels still need spacers? That's one thing I would love to get rid of.

Scott,

IMHO - 11inch = 305

The thing is this (and not to disregard the rolling diameter issue) the "advantage" (see how i used qutation marks ??? ) of low profile tyres is to reduce sidewall bag - over tyreing (sic) a wheel can induce more sidewall bag....

Unless you are going to reduce the aspect ratio (the second number in 305/xx/19) by a corresponding amount then the potential for sidewall bag is greater.

This applies to street tyres mainly - as proper race tyres have VERY stiff sidewalls.

Simon.

Check your kinematic toe, that's way too much wear in the rear.

Scott,

He's right, check your kinematic. I've been using 245/35 and 285/30/19 S03s on my RUF 19s (8.5 and 10) wheels. After about 8k miles, fronts are a bit more worn than yours, rears half worn. My experience is probably closer to average wear. Of course....., I don't have RUF power.
