How much over MSRP did buyers pay to aquire these great cars back in 1997? $20,000...$50,000?? Thanks.

175k? What did you expect? That is about where I would have guessed it would end. I have never seen a higher bid for a Turbo S on ebay, but I have also never seen that nice of one on there.

No matter how jaundiced and cynical someone might have become about rare Porsche "collectors" you have to be impressed by that window sticker photo and the immaculate leather underneath just to underscore the importance of what you're reading.
