Arrow pic request: Turbo S inside rear wheel well: brake ducting

In the front Turbo S fog light / air duct I know there's tubing to the brake for cooling.

In the rear wheel well, is there any tubing, etc., that conducts cooling airflow from the air scoop in the rear quarter panel to the brakes?

Please post applicable photographs of the inside of a complete 993 Turbo S wheel well.

Here's a photo of the back of an uninstalled Turbo S brake duct. Please confirm if there's anything attached to the metal 'funnel' to help the cooling air complete its mission to the brakes when installed.

I respectfully disagree, Simon! Their function is to look freaking amazing!

I've always wondered about those ducts. There has to be something one could do with them. The brake duct idea is interesting, although I don't think the rear brakes get THAT hot where they require ducts. Is there any way to get that air into the engine bay?

Simon-- Yep, suspected as much. Seen similar sentiments here before. Thanks, though.

It's not function I'm asking so much as for photos of the finished inside of a Turbo S rear wheel well. Any tubing, etc. at the end of that funnel?

BTW, regarding these 993 parts, my 2000 Tequipment 911 Porsche brochure simply describes:
"Air inlets on the rear wheel arches reminiscent of the legendary & innovative Porsche 959. For Carrera S, Carrera 4S & Turbo."

Painfully vague, eh?

It begs the following question that I won't ask for fear of getting this thread on a tangent: were the 959's more functional, especially for brake cooling?

From memory the 959 vents had a purpose. It had a split intercooler arangement, one in each wheel arch........That car was pure function over form....technical marvel!

Is that yours? I think it is a passenger side, I am looking for one.

Thanks for all discussion & interest.

-----------------------------------------
I had access to two 993 Turbo Ss recently. Without dissembling these exotics, my naked eye didn't see any air porting. When asked if the air scoops were functional for cooling anything, owner guessed venting tubes are hidden by wheel well fender liners.

The owner of a Porsche parts specialty store (& racing Porsches) that I visited afterwards said authoritatively that the air's transported to the brake through the control arm. I've never heard that, & hadn't suggested the concept to him.

Reviewing photos I took of the Turbo Ss, though, I have to admit the only visible possibility for directing airflow to the rotors is the control arm. (I'm just starting to learn the mechanics of these beasts; call foul if I'm mis-labeling):

-----------------------------------------
The vendor of these after-market scoops advertises that they "allow for both brake and engine cooling." I talked to him Fri. He said he's since sold the Turbo in the hyperlink's pic, the bodyshop that installed his ducts routed the air to engine, & he doesn't have details on how they cooled his engine. Your opinions?

Default Poll: functional cooling OR purely cosmetic?

After reading & re-reading comments of folks here smarter than I, I may be starting to get it through my thick skull:

Should I stop my efforts, & learn that rear 993 Turbo S air scoops are nothing more than cosmetic, even though fronts are functional?

Informal poll:
Functional with cooling air OR purely cosmetic?

Default WTB left side rear air scoop

I'm in search of an OEM left side rear air duct, part #993 503 980 01 per PET diagram in originating post, above. Thanks for any assistance.

RT-- Yes, that's mine. Sounds like you're after an OEM right side duct at a price less than the stealer's, uh, dealer's.
If I can help a fellow RLer out, I will.
The fella that sold me mine may still have the right side new & well-priced; I'll ask him for ya.

I know he doesn't have the left one, & that's what I now need.
If I find good news, I'll PM you; please do likewise, if you can find a deal on the left side duct.

What you show as a control arm in your pic is actually an oil line.
