You do tend to see regular (non RS) front wings (fenders) on cup cars and the race versions of GT2. (obviously widebody). I think this is down to the increased liklihood they may have a knock while in the heat of battle, no point putting a more expensive wing on the car when a cheaper one is more readily available.....
All of the GT2 road versions I have seen have the side indicator and headlight wash covered over though.

Its good to see a guy that actually owned and/raced the rarest breed known as a GT2. You turned a beautiful as it is 993tt into something even more desireable. As time passes less people will remember what the GT2 was and still is. Sure a lot of Rlisters and a-cooled faithful know what you have, but with mass production comes a little bit of watering down of the breed.

You have created some history and a work of art whether you intended to or not. You must appreciate the breed and its purity more than most of us will ever know. Well done !!!

I see the GT2 rep. has made an appearance in the April 09 issue of Excellence. Great job and, again, stunning car.

Every time I see a GT2 I feel like crying.
I passed on a GT2 Clubsport a few years ago for about ~100K Euros.

Jochen - the car is stunning. Congratulations to a very nice build, I hope it drives as good as it looks.

The 993TT in all its guises (TT, TTS, GT2) is the epitome of 911 and 911 Turbo styling, period.

Was. Protosport in New Jersey has the car as I write-swapping out GT2871's for GT3076's for 700+HP.

Nice photos, Pong!

I can't believe how much bigger the Cayman looks than the 993s (rear view pics).

Dean,

Thanks for the kind words.

It is amazing how small the 993 is when parked besides 997s and Caymans. The modern Porsches are no longer the petite sport cars they used to be. Only blessing is that the base Cayman weights in at 2,850 lbs, so it is pretty light on its feet. My Ruf is a shade over 3,100 lbs by comparison.

Wow.. why not GT3071's instead of GT3076's? Dont the 71's give you a wider power band and faster spool?

Sorry for going off-topic here guys...

Possibly, but I think the selection of the 3076 over the 3071 was based on concern that the smaller diameter compressor wheel of the 3071 (71mm) versus the 3076 (76mm) increases the risk of turbo choke, driving the compressor wheel over its turbo speed limit. Based on my HP, torque, displacement and rpm needs/desires, the 3076 was preferred, facilitating peak HP and torque over low- and mid-range efficiency.

Thumbs up

Pong-- Thanks for the write-up & great photos.

Jochen-- I finally stopped by Barnes & Noble, just for your GT2. Congratulations on your beautiful beast, racing career, & the feature article. How did you go about getting published? Did they approach you?

I've been waiting to see your interior; page 74 didn't disappoint. I'm guessing you have the radio delete panel. Please reply with pics when able. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see shots of your customized engine, too.

Another painstaking recreation advertised in the same issue -- 968 Turbo S replica. I look forward to yours getting cover billing next time:
we've got a rather special drive for this Porsche in mind for a future issue
You & Excellence are doing a great job at increasing their roster of Rennlist readers!

P.S. So is GT Purely Porsche: January issue, page 124 "All You Need to Know: Porsche 993 Carrera RS." Good pix, even though it has a radio...
