New I/C cores available..
With all the recent testing of I/C. Over the years I have accumulated different manufactures cores from around the world. I have been able to get the formula of fin spacing and tubing of the Secan. Here is very recent picture of cores that I have had made for me.
I would toss into the mix, my I/C into the fold. I feel that it's the core design. I need some help with the width of the Secan core that TB and Mod have. In order to have a fair gunfight, all things should be equal. It looks like the new I/C that was made was smaller in depth. TB is the Secan core 90mm thick?
A suggestion would be to mount secondary IAT sensor taps on the center plenum to get readings. I would also recommend tapping sensor locations on each inlet tanks to read the charge air from each turbocharger. This would be benifit the tuner if one turbocharger was running in a overspeed situation.

I can't measure the depth accurately 'cos the shroud is on- its about 85-90mm.
I'm not feeling that the intricacy of the fins in your cores is quite in the Secan league without even taking into account the materials used.....

Secan's cooling fin density is very high, as in Toby's picture. Much higher than this Kevin's model..

I should have made myself clear.. The top core is my new core. The bottom unit is another "Brand" that is heavily advertised in the US. Again please realize that the completed I/C with the end tank is not my core.. My core is double perferated.. You can't see it. The cooling fins are split and perferated like a cheese grater..
There is no comparison between my new core and the bottom core.. I used it as a reference..
Toby can count the fins per inch to give us the apples to apples.. But the Secan unit does not appear to be perferated.

Toby and Martin, I realize that the Secan is the "Best" IC out on the market at a very high price. I have the casting facility and CNC machines in place that I can build a reasonable unit that will try to come close. If it doesn't work we have to go back to the drawing board.
All I am trying to do is get a benchmark of size for size..

Kevin, I work closely with both Marston and NAR in the UK. If you'd like contact info, I'd be happy to send it to ya.
Both of these folks should be able to provide data sheets from independant (Young Calibration Lab) testing facilities. Seams as though everyone aims for Secan's internal and external pressure drop figures.
Both Marston and NAR have got creative in their core technology. They both have been getting close to Secan in terms of performance but at a reasonable cost.

Here is another Marston core intercooler. This was produced using more than just "off the shelf" guesswork and the first reports I hear are that it works in a Porsche tt application....
Note the thickness looks way over 10mm, but this is one of two and it is not 993tt application.
Suffice to say all information on the cores is proprietry to the owner, from whom you would (if he felt like sharing) get zero hype or BS

If Martin or Tody reads this, here my offer.. I will rebuild Martins Z/C turbochargers (the turbo's will be ready for a "tune up" shortly)labor for free, part you cover, if he gives me the general measurement that I need.. Apples to apples..

Are there any vanes in the end tanks to direct the air coming in evenly through the intercooler cores? I'm assuming there obviously is but i'm just curious.
