It looks like several of us are intent on a center exhaust so here are some pics of how RUF does it on a CTR2 Sport. I have a Boxster S too so it is going to help with my litte project...

Interesting to see the O2 sensors ahead of the turbos; I wouldn't have guessed they can survive the heat there.

Ruf actually built a single Turbo R with the CTR exhaust. Way too expensive, and their subsequent Turbo Rs all had the split, standard exhaust. Here is a picture of that Ruf factory center exhaust:

It looks like the stock exhaust bypasses the mufflers and are cut and turned out before the cross-over in the middle. Is this how it's done??

I'd like to add mufflers as I'm getting a little tired of the bypasses, and stock or smaller mufflers have clearance problems on my 964 body. I really like the way this RUF places the mufflers on the rear, and not on the sides.....

Here is a shot of Rufus exposed. We still need weld little tabs to the pipe to bolt it securely to the cat. Its actually not a difficult piece to construct. It is simply a longer muffler bypass, and no other exhaust changes are required.

I am not sure whether the length of the exhaust might increase backpressure though, my guess is probably not but there is some research to be done on the subject?

What are your plans for heat shields for the bumper?

Jean, You are right, of course. Every time you add pipe length or a bend, youb are adding backpressure, although I don't know if its significant or measureable. The exhaust is made of 2.5" madral tubing.

Phelix, I have the original heat shield jammed in place (trimmed for the center tail pipes, of course). I am thinking of taking the system off and sending it out for Jet Hot Coating, which I understand works well as a heat barrier. Any thoughts about that? I'd probably do it in silver color, or flat black.
