R comps will make it a whole new ballgame. I would reccommend Michelin Pilot Sport Cups for tires but I'd also say get a floor jack and put the rubber on a new set of track wheels - like 8.5 & 11/18's Fikse or BBS so you can swap in 15min + save some lbs too. I run 265's up front and 315s in the rear, they are dot rated so you can drive em on the street and it'll make a world of difference on the track - what used to be the limit will now feel more like 7/10ths. Throw some race buckets in there - put some motons on there or re-valve some Pss9's at 650 and 1000 lb spring rates and go drive circles around the 997GT3's at the track.

I like the way you think!

how am I going to explain having 2 track cars?
wait nevermind. I'm not married, I don't have to explain nothing to nobody. R comp sport cups on the way!

CJ,
Pirelli Corsa's would be my first choice, they come up to temp quick, steel belted and you can run them on the street without worry. Yokohama Advan 048 would be my second choice, not has fast as the Corsa's and loud but will stand up to street use. I don't like MPSC for the street and track. Takes far to long to get them up to temp where they work, also prone to snap oversteer. Be sure to get a fresh set as some "deals" have been sitting in warehouses for two years.

thanks...do you have 285 or 315 on yours Jimmy?
I know you've been using your car properly so I'd rather take out the guess work and set it up like yours...my GT3 has the corsas and I really enjoyed them on the track.

I'm currently running Advan's as there were availibilty problems with the Corsa's when I needed them. The Corsa's are better.
Size does matter. I'm running 235's on 9" BBS race wheels in front and 315's on 11" in the rear.
Fastest times were on Hoosiers 245 and 305's BUT and its a big BUT, forget Hoosiers for ANY street use.
FYI, If you don't want to change wheels, go to a 295 rear tire and it will work fine. Just make sure the tire diameter is close on whatever selection. The closer the better.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Great write up....glad to hear you got the 3.8 on the track...I still have not had mine on the track! I think my purchase of a 997 gt3 is near, so it helped to read your comparison. My only problem is I don't really have the means of keeping both cars like you and am not completely sure I want to give up the Andial beauty! Have fun with the arrival of the gt3!

Anyway, always neat to be able to run multiple cars back-to-back during a track day.

hey everyone- I tracked the andial again today and had a great time- much faster around turns and through braking zones even with the same tires. I had a few funny moments- my first track spin led to a small grass fire when some of it touched the exhaust goodies under the car-lol
also some guy was running some weird stock car and one of his fenders fell off at 130mph on the long straight- good thing I was a 30 yards behind him and not right on his ***.
met some cool dudes while walking through the paddocks in between sessions- everyone is happy when they're at the track...

MSR is that country club track right? They are building a few up here, but they all seem pretty dumbed down/'safe' based on the layouts.
CJ, if you ever get a chance to hit watkins glen, that is a real track, you'll love it. Play hooky one day next season and take my turbo out there, you'll wanna be traded
