Default announced product - combo gauge

An intriguing product announcement on the main page at http://blownsixdesign.com/ for a combination wideband AFR/EGT, boost gauge and clock which supposedly retains all factory warning lights and fits in the clock spot in the dash. Be interesting to see if this makes it to market. Any guesses as to price?

I was just searching this day for the replacement clock and thought I would love to have more than the boost being displayed up there.

Lets hope it makes it to the market.

As per post #5 in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-turbo-forum/236915-993tt-boost-guage.html

I haven't got very far!

Intriguing......I would be interested in one if they manage to make it work.

The only thing against it is that the boost appears to read in digits swapping over with the clock readout, my experience with digital boost gauges is that they are too slow and cannot keep up with actual readings (probably due to the sender arrangement).
Also the EGT and AFR need to have decent sender units to be worthwhile putting on our precision instruments IMO

I have the Andial Davtron I/C temp gauge and find its lack of accuracy pretty frustrating

I just sent them an email to express my interest (I suggest that each of you do the same). Their plan is to have this available around the end of March and the estimated retail is $785 USD, inclusive of the EGT and AFR sensors. Hawt damn.

Sorry for this question, but what is AFR and EGT?

AFR air fuel ratio
EGT exhaust gas temp

both are invaluable metrics on engine performance and tune and possibility of expensive failures due to lean mixtures

I would have thought they would include an air inlet temp as well so you could see how much better their intercoolers are working than your old one did. But I’m a cynic.

Has anyone here gone for one of these ?
http://blownsixdesign.com/new/gauges.html
I can't help thinking it is a bit blingy and that the ECG and boost readings are going to be inaccurate and slow responding ?

I'm also interested. They advertises:

PROMOTIONAL OFFER:
For First 25 Units
ONLY AT $650 USD

ADDITIONAL $50 OFF
For Existing Blownsix Customers

SHIPPING OUT ON
May 1, 2007

Maybe they lower price for that 650-50 = $600 net price.
That wouldn't be a bad price for everything included..
count me in with that price
Do they ship international (to Finland)?

I am using HKS IC gauge and two HKS EGT gauges on my CTR-2 mounted on the centre console. The memory function is a valuable aid with the HKS package and accuracy is very good.

Does anyone else use an IC gauge and if so what sort of readings are you getting versus ambient?

AFR= air fuel ratio so you can see if you are rich under boost and not just about to melt a piston

EGT= Exhaust Gas temp to see your combustion temperatures again too high and it could be a melt down but too low also could mean the cylinders are absorbing alot of heat if the ignition advance too high as the expolusion takes place for longer inside the cylinder... so the EGT is more difficult to view.

Really you need all the guages Inlet temp from the intercooler, head temp etc when running high boost and/or for longer periods of time you could probably spot somethings up.

I have run the Andial/Davtron before/after gauge for some time. With the Secan I/C I can use the inlet temp as an "outside temp" gauge

Seriously though, with this I/C the inlet barely gets 20DegC above ambient even when thrashing along. This I/C is overkill for a street car and really deserves to be on a track car.

The Davtron gauge is actually not that accurate. If you readout the inlet temp from a "hammer" (this is the inlet temp which the ECU uses) it moves much faster than the Davtron, that said it is still a fun thing to have in the cockpit

TB993TT; my side IC's do not run as cool as your Secan,

I am usually about +5 to +10 over ambient when tooling around town.

I am at ambient on cruise on the motorway without boost load at any speed up to 180K or so, then there is always some boost and +5 or so over ambient.

Under full load at WOT and 6800 rpm I have registered as high as +40 over ambient but it comes down almost as fast as the boost.

I feel the side located IC work rather well on the CTR-2

Thanks for your update.
