Default The real 100-300kph ultimate hp test thread

The other thread got a bit hijacked and ended up a great discussion about theoretical physics -so here is another one to log 100-300kph times and hp claims.
OK so 60-130mph tells us quite a bit about hp of Porsche turbos and more importantly "relevant" hp, this is the power one uses for daily driving, squirting past other traffic, stop light races ( ) etc.......

As we know, Porsche hp is renowned for its staying power, for hanging around when things get hot and other manufacturers engines start heat soaking and dropping way below their hp ratings.

The Ultimate hp test IS the 100-300kph (62.1-186.4mph)

It is unachievable for most, even with big hp you need a good straight couple of miles to do it - public roads are a definate no no.

Obviously areodynamics start to come into play in a big way over 120mph so one should bare this in mind when reviewing the numbers.

Autocar published some great data today which will set the benchmarks for this thread, times achieved at the VW proving ground:
100-300kph (62.1-186.4mph)
Bugatti Veyron: 15.7s
Ferrari 599: 26.4s
Murci 640: 28.4s
Ford GT: 29.7s
Merc SLR: 33.1s
997tt: 37s
Corvette Z06:37.8s

Other Sport Auto Published data:
996ttGemballa750: 17.6s
RS Tuning 993tt (special aero body)533hp: 22.2s
RS Tuning 996GT2 542PS :24.8s
Carrera GT: 30.4s

On to your esteemed RLers (AX22 data)
Guy R (Ruf GT2 Nardo): 24.8s
TB993tt (520hp mode) : 30.48s
Leon S (Ruf TurboR special): faster than 30.48s

I like looking at this data (anorak) and will update this thread as and when it comes in.

Here is another one, 569hp/770NM, it is the RS Tuning stage 3 kit, which is based around K24 turbos and cams full weight 1600kg 4WD 996tt 100-300kph in 20.9s
Interesting on this one is the relatively crappy 100-200kph time of 8.1s, I guess the relative sustainable power comes into play above 200kph.
Some may need reading glasses for these

Would you please post (or send me) a higher resolution copy? I can't read it properly... I even tried to print but I had no luck.

Wow.....great find
The numbers which they highlight on the video do not corrolate with what their Driftbox says -if you look at the Driftbox at the end of the vid it shows:

0-100kph 4.3s
0-200kph 10.7s
0-300kph 25s

So we have 100-300kph in 20.7s

This is about the same as the 569hp RS car.

Checking out the Krono web site they have a large TTP banner in their shop window yet the pictures of 996tt tuning parts are actually RS Tuning parts from Cargraphic.....so a bit of a mystery what they are actually using ? Anyone read Japanese ? (if that is what it is )

LOL, I noticed the TTP/RS Tuning mixture but the truth is on the "Cooperation" menu it shows Cargraphic (i.e. RS Tuning) but no TTP. To add to the equation though, Neil (ex-PSI dealer for the US) on 6speedonline just claimed to be his preparation... now go figure!

TB,
I have heard the car has 53 or 54 mm compressors, with K24 hot side.
How does this compare to some of the popular high performance turbos
like GT28's or the mitsubishi 18G compressor (that I will be going to)??
the car pictured has similar 100-200 to your car which puts it in rare territory
(I believe DMK's car on 6speed (GT700+ lightweight) is similar as well and I saw
it run last week in Scottsdale Arizona).

I believe we will soon see big numbers out of another EVOMS car:
Joetwint:
996TT full weight with GT800 kit, and all-wheel drive.
They are sorting out fuel delivery problems that was starving it out at the
drags. I hope Todd Zuccone and the boys strap in the V-box at the dragstrip.
I predict this car (Joetwint) will have one of the better times.
Good luck to them. (and Evoms is producing some interesting stuff including
a twin turbo GT3 at their shop right now!)

Kevin is this from the shiftless run he did or a different one?

Most likely this car in question here did two shifts and runs less than 1.3 Bar, not really comparable. Also my understanding is that DMK's car is 400lbs lighter than stock (or maybe it was Joe Twint's ?)

Marty, I would certainly feel more comfortable looking at a quarter mile trap speed slip more than any run with any datalogger for those cars.

Jean...it is from the only run I have..... I understand your concerns... yes it is shiftless... I have his other runs on my laptop, but they will be similar I imagine. Trap speed does seem to be the universal standard over there... Joe Twint's car is full weight awd.... DMK RWD and lightweight. Kevin

Jean,
I don't know about the other run but I would propose this:
Is it possible that a car (DMK's) that runs a High 10 second quarter mile
would have a 60-130 time (remember he was trapping well over 130--I watched him),
that would be in that 6 to 7 second range? KPG can probably explain how trap speed is
gathtered at a drag strip (its some kind of average over x distance??).
Also worthy to note: on same day, good conditions about 65-70 degrees, windy
New Z06 never broke 12 flat??
Supercharged Viper went 10.99
Other Viper was in the 12's I believe.
Todd Z's new 997TT ran just over 11 flat at 11.04, and 11.07
Ford AC Cobra's (one was a 427) ran in the 12's (lack of traction)
LuisJr ran a damn nice 12.4 in his stock GT3 !!
There was another GT700 there that wasnt anywhere near the 10,s.
Joetwint's silver car (GT800) was having fuel starvation problems
and ran 10.55 and 10.8 at about 136 mph, the car is fricking fast!!

All the best!

Oh, I almost forget, the best run of the day.

Luis Jr. was driving his partner's Bentley (2005) four door with EVOMS (Giac) tuning.
Ran a mid 13 second quarter mile with (3) guys in the car!!!
I just about fell out of the stands it was so funny!!!, I dont even know if the passengers
had seat belts on.
