I had a set done by a very professional laser cutting and fabrication company - they rolled a new cylinder, jigged the cats on a bench, cut it all up, zipped it back up - looks absolutely factory and cost £360. Defo not a DIY. If you had the ability to do it you wouldn't be asking!

The stock ECU will trip the CEL if the "pre cat" and "post cat" O2 sensor don't show the proper ratio of oxygen. If the cats are removed or get polluted, the ECU will trip the CEL. Aftermarket programs can do other stuff... many will ignore the O2 sensors for purposes of the CEL. It kinda depends on who did your programming.
