No. Work for what? If something leaks, it should be repaired.

Nossir, they do not.

Catch cans are usually use on race cars where the rules require them and its not feasible to route the oil tank breather back into the intake system (like the OEM setup has). These do work very well although sometimes an air/oil separator is needed on turbocharged engines due to the amount of crankcase pressure these have.

Got a problem????

hi there,
apparently the oil catch can works by attaching to the breather it acts as aphysical barrier that prevents any oil in the breather line from reentering the intake track via vacumn. most of our 993tt inherently have some oil from the breather.. esp those that run sustained boost.. i.e track days

hey Steve!
thanks for anwswering
I was wondering if for a stock 993tt if a catch can will help to reduce the amount of oil in the intake tracks... supposedly this helps to keep things nice and dry.

esp if the car sees track days and there is potential for a pressurised crank case every so often.

would be a nice diy and fabrication job to tackle me thinks...

just preventative
your thoughts sir?

If the crankcase see pressure then you need to do a leakdown. If you have more than 12% a topend is in order..

kevin
if i understand you correctly, 993tts dont need this device unless the engine is suffering blowby pressurising the crank case?
thanks for taking the time to explain this
this place is great!
