Good to see you over here, Leon. Look forward to seeing the 'new' turbo R at Brunters.

Please coerce TB into attending v-max also.

Thanks

Martyn.

Leon

How on earth have you managed that weight and kept 4WD

If you add back half a tank of fuel that would make you about 1345kg which is 50kg less than mine.

If I add back in my 45kg 4WD would make me at about 1445kg

Where is your 100kg saving ?

seats maybe 15kg ?
sound proofing 20kg ?
air con 15 kg ?
Edit: manual windows (I presume) 12kg ?
thats 62kg - what have I missed, you have Ruf Modular wheels which are quite chunky compared to my BBS race alis.

I want to be at 1345kg too

Hi Leon,

Welcome aboard and glad to hear your car has now been sorted even further at Ruf. We chatted briefly when you were at VMax, mine was the black Ruf 996 GT2 with the 590 engine.

Excellent - thanks

(Techarts are 5.6kg) 11.5kg saving for the door, about 4kg for the interior panel and the mirrors ? 1kg ?
Does that sound right ?

Leon,

Thanks. You've got a similar power/weight as me so you should be quick there, certainly in the 190s. The 993 will be held back a bit by the aerodynamics vs 996.

I need to get my car down to Ruf for a full lightening programme, although I'm not sure I could live without the a/c, guess I need to really think about what use the car actually gets (which has pretty much been only trackdays and speed events really in the last couple of years).

Leon
Stock steel door weighs 17kg, panels weigh about 8kg, glass 4k, electric window mechanism and motor 10 kg that totals 39kg, have I missed anything out ?
So your whole dressed carbon door weighs ~9kg

Am I missing something there ?

Guy,
Re the areodynamics, do you know for a fact that the 996 GT2 has better aerodynamics than a stock body (well Ruf bodied) 993tt
The numbers for the 993tt are:
Front area S = 1.93 sqm
Cd = 0.34
CdXS = 0.656
Do you have the 996 GT2 for comparison - my guess is the wide wheels and big wing will give the 996 GT2 a pretty big "footprint" - all the Vmaxes I have seen for tuned 996 GT2s do not indicate a particularly slippy shape (allowing for the power) compared to tuned 993tts.

Air -con ? I may be use it 5 times a year in the UK and then occasionally to clear a steamed up windshield in the winter. 35kg eh......mmmmm

toby,

re.drag co. i have a deeper bumper (ctr2) which will have a negative effect, but offset by a very slippery rear spoiler and tiny race mirrors which are practically useless for anything except drag reduction..also have had the rainguttering removed

i'll be aiming for the double ton in 1.4miles.....we shall c
