Smile Turbo S chin spoiler

Ok, I don't have the car in my garage yet, pick it up on Saturday.

First thing I'm thinking of doing is getting the Turbo S chin spoiler from Carnewal.

Anybody see an issue with installing this? Will it block the lower openings, I haven't seen one in person.

I would think not, it looks like Porsche just slaps them on the Turbo S.

Also, if anyone knows of any other supplier in the USA where it might be a bit cheaper, that would be great.

Thanks,
Cesar.............Saturday can not come fast enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cesar,

Congratulations... you will have at least a week of no sleep. Ask me how I know.
You may be able to find the S spoiler at "Better Bodies" or MA Shaw... not sure. Yes... it simply glues on, and doesn't block anything. But, and here is where the "while you're in there" starts happening, you may want to ditch the USA bumperettes, and go to clear corners and turbo S ducts (unless you car already has them... I forget which car you're getting). The thing is, they'll have the bumper off anyway, and the paint gun loaded with your paint.... now's the time!

One recommendation:

If you can, have the body shop file down the "lip" on the bottom of the chin spoiler. It acts as a protection bar, only, it is not that strong. You end up scraping it. Gert's protection bar will not work when you have this spoiler (EDIT: Unless you file this down).

Thanks guys!

I do hate those bumperettes. It doesn't have the S ducts. It's the one at HOLT.

Do you have to remove the bumper to install S ducts and remove the bumperettes?

By the way, I haven't slept right since I put money down on the car last Tuesday..................Cesar

The bumperettes only affect the length of the corner lenses.... the S ducts can be installed with or without bumperettes.

One thing to keep in mind: the factory Turbo S front spoiler is made of the same material as the bumper cover so it's fairly flexible whereas aftermarket ones tend to be fiberglass.

The slatted ducts on a standard 993tt are still there and used; it's just that the more square jawed look of the S spoiler means you can't see them unless you're looking up from beneath the car.

Sounds like you are on a budget so this may not be of interest - a one piece spoiler incorporating the "S" lip marketed by Stuttgart Connection in the UK.
No idea of price.

Thanks on the Stuttgart site.

That looks great, trying to get more info from them. Wonder if it's fiberglass or plastic. Will see.

Once I find out price plus shipping I'll post it.

Ok, got an answer from them on price.

Man, the shipping is crazy........

The bumper is USD $807.10 at current exchange rates.

The freaking shipping cost is: USD $302.59

I sent another email to discover the material it is made of.
I would get it if the shipping wasn't ALMOST have the cost of the bumper........

I asked that question already. Standard material is fiberglass. Carbon/kevlar adds 30%

Are those air ducts functional (go to the brakes) and would there be any weight savings going carbon/kevlar? Might be better going that way over aftermarket ducts/clear headlights.

Stay with the OEM factory piece. It fits much better than the aftermarket ones. I know, I sent 2 back before I ordered one from Porsche. It still wasn't a perfect fit. but it was much better. I would try Brandywine Porsche in Newton Square, PA. They should be slightly less than $800. if I remember correctly. They're well known for their competitive pricing and great service on parts. I believe the young man in parts in Justin or Jason......

PS Get the turbo S air ducts as they provide great flow to that new CarGraphic/RUF oil cooler you'll be installing soon....

Cesar:

I am currently in the middle of doing this exact work for my TT.

I am fitting a factory turbo "S" chin spoiler to a new euro bumper cover. My project should be done by the X-Mas holidays as things progress. I just completed the rear "S" tail !

FWIW, even if you start with factory pieces, there is a need to have the fitment work done by a very good body shop. As folks have mentioned, the turbo "S" chin spoiler mostly glues on. There are two mounting studs on each side, about 3 inches on front of the wheel well.

The fit issue of the chin spoiler is getting a nice seam line along the curve of the bumper cover when viewed at an downward angle. There is a tendency for the part to have varying gaps at the "mouth" as well as at the back wheel well lip. To help at the mouth, I am fitting two extra studs to help hold things better as the part flexes over the life of the assembly. I also think this is going to help keep things lined up as we bond the parts together. Remember, this bonding step is done after painting...

Bottomline, find a body shop that is used to fitting post purchase aero kits.
