Unhappy Bounced off the Guard Rail

Well, heres what happened...... I was on the freeway Hwy 78, and it ends @ Interstate 5. You stop at a stop light and wait for a left arrow to proceed onto the on ramp. Well this on ramp is a S shaped on ramp onto the 5 south. Well it was late at night proceeded onto the on ramp fairly fast, didnt notice the sprinklers were watering the on ramp, as I went through the first turn, the rear end hit the water and started sliding, since I didnt notice the water it scared me and I turnd the wheel to the right, and should have hit the accelerator, and most likely I would have pulled it out with the awd. But instead of doing that I lifted, the tires regained traction, and I was then heading for the right guard rail.... well I cranked the wheel to the left, but I ran out of road and bounced off of the guard rail. At first I didnt think I hit it, I thought I just hit the curb, well this was only a few miles to the house, so I drove it home and this was the damage. $ 7000k worth of damage. $ 500 deductible, thank goodness...

Glad you are ok. Our cars can be fixed, although it is painful to see.

Beautiful car and I'm sorry to see the damage. You should always stop and check out any damage after a collision as driving it could seriously add to your repair costs (think oil cooler, brake lines, wheel bearings.....).

Vince, I think that all of us has either wiped out the right rear of left rear quarter panel in ones Porsche owning experience.. Did your rim or tire hit the rail..

Doug is your car up and running yet?

What IS this thing with San Diego (and north county) sprinklers specifically aimed to be ON the road instead of ON the useless bushes and scrab grass on the side of the road?

I was comming down a hill in Poway at the speed limit, and let off in 4th in my 89S4 a few years ago. Well, obviously the rears locked up. I put the clutch in but not before I scared my wife to hell. It was the middle of the day at the sprinklers were almost pointed in the exact WRONG direction - almost as if on purpose.

That sucks! Glad you're ok. Interesting how the door didn't get scratched. Possible benefit of a wide body.

Ouch! If you go to LA Dismantlers for parts, be sure they got your parts right. They shipped out the wrong fender to my shop out here and wanted us to eat the shipping for their mistake. The plus is a new OEM Porsche fender on order now. Glad you're ok!

You have a beautiful looking turbo, one of the best I've seen so far and it can be fixed. The important thing is that your fine. So dont worry too much, it will be just like it was in no time.

VINCE:
I know this on ramp well as I drive it daily. It is a regular occurence to see the Cal Trans crews replacing the guard rails from some poor souls mistake. I am sorry to see such a beautiful car damaged but glad to hear that it was not more serious. Who do you plan on having do the work?
West Coast Specialties has done outstanding work for me in the past. Hope to see you on the road soon.
Jeffry
