I think the throttle body may be a limiting step in higher performance engines. I was speaking with Todd Knighton a few months ago and he did recommend a "bored out" throttle body. In retrospect, if some of you are putting high HP numbers and experience caving in of your airbox-requiring relief holes, maybe the throttle body would be suspect too. Maybe the whole intake diameter needs to be re-evaluated for those of you requiring mega HP.

Any hints on locating the primary O2 sensors would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Tom, it is located on the cat. The position is roughly 6-8" from where the cat bolts to the turbocharger.. Basically it is the closest O2 sensor to the turbocharger..

There are 4 sensors, two for each half of the engine. The primary sensors are before each of the two cats (thus nearest the turbos) and are used by the ECU as an input parameter for fine-tuning the mixture at idle and part throttle. The secondary sensors are after the cats and don't affect the mixture but are part of the OBD II system to confirm that the cats are working.

I have solved the overboost problem but I still have a question. The solution to the overboost was to use a mechanical boost control valve and tie the electronic unit to the side.

Now the question. Has anyone had any long term problems with using a mechanical valve versus an electronic one?

Theoretically there are aspects of the motors functions monitored by the electronic unit but how essential are these in day to day us? IOW is it worth pursuing a way to get the electronic unit working again and if so how. BTW the defective electronic unit was recently replace with no change in the overboost.

Not the best idea. I have a better solution for you. What you want to do is install the Manual Boost Controller as per the diagram. Then set it so you have no boost spikes but still get full boost readings. This will allow you to retain the factory solenoid control via ECU yet eliminate boost spikes.

(Disregard the taper at the end as this is from another type of car)

K24madness, thanks, here is the MBC valve that I have from RUF, it has three attachment points, not two. Any ideas why?

Thanks again

Try this one

http://www.boostcontroller.com/index...6category%3D97

It looks to be more straight forward.

Sorry to bring-up such an old thread, but I notice, by application, all of the 993 cars use the same MAF. Is this true? I would have thought the TT cars used something different?

Great thread, BTW!!

I'm looking to do my Air Mass Meter and Primary 02 sensors. The site I've found lists the Bosch part numbers the other way, ie. C####-###### . I just want to confirm I'm ordering the right things.

MAF: B3130-128512
Oxygen Sensor: C5010-88350

Thanks in advance for any info. The site advertises $540 for the MAF and $142 for each O2 sensor. Is it worth calling Sunset or is this about as cheap as I'll find?

Try http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214626 to calibrate your prices. Sunset is usually a few percent cheaper. Checking Pelican is usually also worthwhile.

The price is definitely right. Can anyone confirm part #s?
