I looked about a month ago and they were $440 on all the internet parts distributors. Now they're $550. $400 is a steal.

No problem - I bought mine from them mostly because they are on my way home from work and I needed (wanted) to get it installed over the weekend, a few weeks ago.

I also found the 02 sensors on the Bay. Ended up paying $605 instead of $850. That's nice.

Just so I get my terminology correct, we are speaking about a mass air flow sensor (MAF) are we not? I know I need one some time in April when the snow melts.

Thanks guys

I just received the 02 sensors, which I ordered by Porsche part #, and they're made by Walker. Are these acceptable or do I want Bosch?

Thanks Kevin, I just spoke with Steve Weiner and he said the same thing. Ugh. Here's the description "This is not a Universal, This is an exact Original Equipment Replacement that is guaranteed OEM Quality and Fitment meets strict Porsche Standards." The internet sucks sometimes...

One more question for you guys - what type of tool should I use to remove/replace the primary O2 sensors? I think I need some kind of socket as the tightening torque is specified, but judging from the service manual illustrations I don't think I can fit the first tool in this below space:

Should I use something like this:

In my opinion you don't need a torque wrench to tighten the sensors; just hand tighten until you can't turn them any more and then another 16th to an 8th of a turn after that with a wrench.

You may have trouble getting the old sensors off. I'm not sure that socket will work; it's probably too long to fit in the tight confines of the 993tt's cats. You can use a conventional box end wrench if you cut the wires and then use the open end wrench to tighten the new sensors. Or use the crow's foot wrench as in your second photo for both steps and you can hang on to your old sensors for years thinking you might want to reuse them some day.
