PSS9 Streetability
Yesterday I picked up a '97 Arena Red TT! I've wanted a 993TT for quite some time, especially in Arena Red, but they slip through your fingers very quickly; lots of demand, little supply.
My previous p-cars were a 2000 Boxster S and 2004 C2. For those cars I had the ROW M030 suspension installed and liked it very much. For the C2 I considered the PSS9 suspension, but at the time there were noise issues from the springs binding on the perches; I simply can't have that on a street car that is only occassionally driven at the track. So, I went with ROW M030.
Now, I find myself in the same quandary, ROW M030 vs. PSS9 (or something else??). So, have the PSS9 noise issues been resolved? I need it to be as quiet as stock. Anything else I should know about that makes the PSS9 less streetable than ROW M030?
Thanks!

Dont know about the PSS9 Issue, but you sure have a wonderful car. I just love that color combination. You must be the happiest puppy around the block right now!
You mentioned you had a 2004 C2 before. I'd really like to hear your opinion about the differences between these cars and what you like most about your TT and what you miss most from your C2.
Cheers

Beautiful car... but them I'm a bit biased. The PSS-9s are totally quiet and very adjustable. I can't think of any negatives, and I believe the cost delta for ROW springs and Bilstein HDs is pretty small.

Just was messing around with my PSS-9 settings today. Set hard or soft they are as quiet as the stock suspension. The improvement in ride really suprised me.
Quite happy except the warmer weather has pulled my engines timing and so am not accelerating quite as quickly now.
Oh, the PSS-9's pretty much eliminated wheel hop on take off.
Looking forward to another crack at the 1/4 mile after running Gingerman next weekend.

I believe the PSS9 noise was mainly an issue with AWD 996's, but I wasn't sure so wanted some of your opinions before getting it. Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, I got it at Park Place in Bellevue. Luckily I saw it right when they got it in stock because all their salesmen were furiously calling people about it. I don't think it was going to last very long. Love it!

For now, the obvious differences are in appearance; the 993 and 996 are so different inside that they might as well be completely different cars; the 996 interior was quite a bit nicer, but the 993 is classic; call it a tie .
The exteriors are quite different, but the 996 is obviously a derivative of the classic shape. But, the 993TT has always been my favorite exterior, so clearly a winner in my book (in any color).
The engine/trans sounds are both nice, but also quite different; slight preference to the 993.
I had the 40th Anniv C2 so it had the 345HP motor but it isn't even in the same ballpark as the TT

Great color! I think Arena red is the color that Porsche had for its original advertisements/brochures. I got mine in the Seattle area too a few months back from a private party. My H&R coil overs and sway bars were noisy until I adjusted them (previou thread). From what I have read, I think most suspension noise come from the sway bars and not from the shocks.

FYI - It is the springs moving on the perches that causes the noise that I heard about. Some company made some bearings that fixed the issue for the specific 996's that had the problem. Sounds like that issue is present in the 993tt application. Good!
How are they adjusted? ****? Front? Top? Is it easy on the rears?
Thx

Nice car! No Pss9 noise for me. I had the ROW/M030 in my 95 NA 993, which was nice....but I must say...the pss9's are tighter and a noticeably better ride..........Marc

Pete:
I have PSS9's installed and have never had any noise issues. If you're going to do the upgrade, think about installing the front and rear Carrera S rollbars as well. They work very well together.
