Here's a thought... if both you and Garee are interested in this car, do "rock-paper-sissors" or something for who gets first whack. Kinda like they way we used to decide which of us guys got first crack at the cute chick that just walked in the door. Try to work that out so you both don't get hurt, price-wise.

BTW, that never worked for us guys either.

Thanks for relaying the information about this car.
I hope it did not take too much out of your day. I owe you guys a beer if you ever make it up to Seattle or I am in your neck of the woods.

I think I'll pass on this deal here's the baton iborroel.

gareeb: I am not ready to jump on the car just yet. I am going to take my time. If it's not worth it in the end I will pass as well. Are you going to take a look at the local cars I had mentioned?

Yeah it was a real hardship to take a 2 hour lunch, meet my buddy, look at cars and go to the English pub.

Pictures are ready:
1). bumper/fender beading is a little off
2). interior was very clean. lots of upgrades
3). seats show very little wear.
4). no evidence of body work up front
5). Nokia digital thingamabob
6). original porsche option sticker
7). nice engine bay

With a new clutch and complete service, this car is a bargain at $56k (after a good PPI, of course).

I just described the lifter noise to my tech, and he said 20 hours of labor to replace them all, and you'd better do 'em all while you're in there.

I think I'd recommend passing on this one.

Scott,

Ouch! I thought that "the service will take care of that" sounded a bit weak, but the beauty of this deal is that they will do the service, and if it still ticks, then you can walk away. On the other hand... if the engine is already out for the clutch replacement, I wonder if replacing the lifters is a bit smaller of a deal? A bigger question is why is there a problem in the first place? Lack of oil changes?

If this lifter noise is really going to be an issue then I will defintely pass on the car. I won't sacrifice a good running car just for a cheaper price.
