Belated thanks TB for spending on a dyno for us. Since I purchased my car this way, I'm gonna have to look for the box and all connections. Anybody else have similar observations? or alternate observations??

Since I don't have an intake box, but I think I remember what the stock 993tt box/snorkel looks like, why not just extend the snorkel hole on the box so there's a bigger "mouth" and attach a wider snorkel instead of drilling into the box which *would* allow hot air to mix with fresh air? Just a thought.

Jaime

Just returned from dyno testing on Friday. As per 993TB's suggestions I checked the air filter cover by removing it and leaving the filter in place. On a mustang AWD dyno, my car was stable after 3 runs with the average 470 WHP with K&N filter. After removing the air filter cover and having the lid closed with no external fan on it WHP jumped 25-28 HP. I plan to drill some holes in the cover .

FWIW the cone filter does not give the air enought of a chance straighten before going thru the MAF.

K24......Why not just make the "mouth" of the box larger and make a wider snorkel? Doing so would prevent hot air from mixing with cool air.

There is not enough room to make it as large as it needs to be.

Intake restrictions create heat because the turbo has to work harder to consume said amount of air. Removing the cover proved (to me anyway) that holes in the side cover is the lessor of the two evils.
