Default Drill little holes in bottom of exhaust tips to prevent rust?

I have brand new cargraphic mufflers and beefy chrome oval exhaust tips. Ive noticed some rust buildup already (500 miles) and a friend suggested i drill a small hole on the bottom of each tip to let water drop out. He said the stock tips have these little drainage holes.
Should i do this? I never heard of this before.

That used to be a standard thing when we had mild steel exhaust systems. Most everything is stainless steel now and lasts the life of the car. If your chrome is rusting on the outside, drilling a drain to prevent fluid build up on the inside will have no effect. Also, water near the tips wouldn't be a problem, as it can evaporate readily. Stainless steel tips are probably your best solution, they just need polishing every so often to look good.
