Default Dyno Tuning Today!!!

Our Turbo Guru, Kevin is down in sunny SoCal today. He and Gunter are developing a program for his hybrids. So if you want to meet up with Kevin and Gunter, they are welcoming Rennlisters to come down and see them in action!

They will be at AMS all day.

AMS
1035 Bedmar Street

Hope to see you there!

AMS has an amazing shop! The MAHA dyno has the abilty to measure drivetrain losses during decel portion of the run and calculate crank HP. On OEM cars they are within a few HP. Air flow in the dyno room will damn near knock you over if you walk in front of the fan (ask me how I know). They also take fresh air from the roof for the fans.

Marc the owner is a talented tuner also.

They are going to turn in some nice combos for sure. Let's hope Kevin reverts with his feedback. If anyone goes there, please post!

Oh, a bunch of us went to Injen Technology a few months ago and put our cars on the supposed 4 wheel dyno. Turns out the front rollers were not coupled to the rear rollers and it blew up my viscous coupler. There is a thread somewhere with the sordid details, but that's the Cliff Notes version.

I was supposed to go down with my car, but they used another in LA and didn't need it. Based on Scott's experience, a lot of questions were asked about the dyno and since no guarantees were forth coming, I understand they disconnected the front drive to be safe. I can't wait for Kevin to report what happened since I am in dire need of an ECU upgrade.

Huh! I thought these things only happened in this part of the world. I understand you can have accute dynophobia now.
Glad you have your car back.

Addison, in which sense is Gunther amazing, knowledge or personality-wise?

Folk, I'm using Prams computer (Kevin)

It was a very long 2 days.. I was with Gunter in Santa Monica watching him work his magic on some new 996TT's, then went to AMS the next day to tune. We ended up finishing 4:45 this morning.. Addison left directly to play 18 holes without sleep. It was a real pleasure to meet him and Pram. The Maha dyno was awesome.. As Gunter said, we will get real HORSES not ponies today.. I have to sit down today and debrief the data.. The good news is that we had no failures with 50 hard pulls... I had to replace spark plugs at the last second... and we had some MAF failures due to K&N filters, we assume the oil knocked out the MAF... Folk please be careful with the oil residue from these filters...

We are going back to AMS, to button up the cars today.. I also have to thank to Mark (AMS) for all his support. Details will be coming up shortly.. I was like a little child the day before Christmas.. It was fun..

Jean:

Pram here. Guenther is just an amazing both in knowledge and personality.

His experience in tuning cars at the source code level is just amazing and the amount of infomation he processes during tuning is just overwhelming

Jean, Gunter has an amazing sense of humor and is very easy to talk to but his knowledge is astounding as Pram said.

Pram is running the modified Andial Intercooler, Techart muffler with aux oil cooler. I am running stock intercooler, stock cats, muffler bypasses and aux oil cooler. Pram is making a little more HP at the top end because of cats and bypasses. It's funny but the bypasses are too restrictive.
