Default K16 Hybrids installed

Well I just picked up my car after having Kevin's k16's installed. The grin on my face took longer to go away after driving than it normally does!! So I guess they work?

No really, the car is definitley more alive. It responds instantly to the foot!!! Going out driving tonight minus the joke we call the 405 fwy.

Thanks Kevin!!!!

Marty,

Did you do the GT1s (k16/k24 hybrids)? Did you do the Stage 2? Do you still have the stock ECU? This conversion is definitely in my future... still trying to firm up my options. Thanks

Steve;

Marty is still out driving the wheels off the car. Seriously, He has the GT1's with his stock "S" ECU..

Marty, what are your driving impressions? Do you find power coming on at lower rpm? Let's schedule a trip to La Jolla for lunch. We'll trade cars. That way you will better appreciate what you've got.

Just got back! WOW! Man what a difference! My girlfriend said it was like the car was pulling wheelies! The car feels like it wants to jump out of my hands. And for the first time I broke the tires loose in first gear.

Just like they said. "it makes the car come alive"

A very happy TTS owner tonight. Now I need driving lessons. ( like I didn't before)

Steve, Like Kevin said my car is stock S ecu. I think this is all I can handle for a while.

Mark H did the install. Car is running great.

And the car even sounds better.

Bill,

Response is right there. First and second gear redline real quick. Let's get together soon and you can see if you notice a difference. I think you will.

And you have a great car that anyone would appreciate.

Thanks for the post, Marty, it's reassuring as my GT1's from Kevin should be installed by the end of the week. Did you/your shop follow the detailed break-in procedure?

Along with hybrid turbos you can do zero clearance (greater efficiency), billet wheels (aluminum or titanitum) and backplates, porting the wastegate and inserting a larger flapper door from the K24s, and ceramic coating the turbine housing to keep heat (and energy) turning the wheel. Prices can range from around $800 - almost $2K per turbo for the work.

Hi Jorge.. How is the weather in Panama these days??

The ECu should be modified to take advantage of the new turbos. Otherwise the boost, fuel maps and timing will not get these baby's where they need to go....

I think shortly we are going to have to organize a group buy for tires...

My girlfriend said it was like the car was pulling wheelies! The car feels like it wants to jump out of my hands. And for the first time I broke the tires loose in first gear.

Great idea, OG. This sounds like a great upgrade. Does anyone see any down side to doing this. longivity, etc.??
