^prior threads on these brakes and install
Been having difficulty keeping a firm brake pedal not a problem on the street but having to push the pedal deeper and occ having to pump the brakes. Seems okay for one track day after bleeding but by second day I wasn't happy. So ordered brake rebuild kit, bunch of seals to be replaced, smaller dust seal and wider main oil seal. Pistons are stainless so supposed to hold up well and new pistons not incuded in kit.

little bit of compressed air and cardboard to keep pistons from flying out!
oh yeah after opening the bleeder, don't forget to push the brake pedal down and rig something to keep it down part way before taking the the line off to stop brake fluid from drain out..

Thank you!
How did you rig the brake pedal half way down? Would a brake line cap also work?

but trust me, holding the brake pedal down is way way easier and less messy

Nice job and write up. I did the rebuild on my stock calipers as well a few years ago as I wanted to powder coat them. Those square seals are no fun... when trying to put the pistons back in. Job done but wasn't fun. End result looked great. Congrats!

Great closeup picts and nice work as always! What do you attribute the "gunk" on the pistons from? You are pretty meticulous about clean brake fluid, and the brakes are not that old - what do you think, is it stuff getting past the seals into the callpers or from the fluid itself (or even from heat cycling the fluid causing buildup?).
