Default Cleaning the garage - Tools/Parts FS

Sold the car and cleaning out the garage.. I found a bunch of stuff I bought in prep for a rebuild just in case.

Cam timing tools Sold (used one time
.. lent to another Rennlister who needed them)

Glyco bearings Sold

Wrightwood gasket set for 3.8l (missing 1 lower valve cover gasket) Sold
(my understanding is the only difference to 3.6 is the cylinder gaskets)

Set of 13 lifters Sold

I am trying to sell these at 50% of retail for my Rennlist brethren.. If I've missed the mark let me know and I'll adjust accordingly.

Did I have onions for lunch? is my fly down? or has Rennlist turned soft on me? I expected this stuff to get attacked by piranha...

I believe your fly was down Sunday, around 11 am.

Do you still have the Sir Tools B90?

Just FYI, The lifters can be had for $27.50 a pop at Pelican. No doubt you could find them for less.

Just checked... These are $110.75/ea @ Pelican today. These are OE (Genuine Porsche), I think they were like 90/ea at the dealer 2 years ago.

Could someone explain why Porsche OE parts would be 4x than the OEM supplier? Is there any difference?

The main thing that I understand is the Viton o-ring, the cheap ones use rubber... That being said, the INA ones (the ones references above) also use viton, so they are a good option...

I went OE since I never got a good answer myself...

These tools make timing your cams VERY easy. You really can't do it without them unless you backdate them to 964 style. They worked perfectly on my motor.

They are virtually the same thing, both made by Ina. The only conceivable difference is that Porsche 'might' do a higher level of quality control on the ones they sell. Does this justify a 4x price. Hell no.

Some people prefer a brand medication over the generic. Go figure.
