My girlfriend bought me the Porsche Classic Radio for my birthday. It has all the modern bells and whistles like bluetooth, navigation and streaming, and looks pretty period correct in our old 993s.

It's spendy, but it's a nice piece of kit:

there is no better audio system than the 3.6 liter one behind you but...

i have an Alpine with a usb mp3 that i hardly ever use but can hold a ton of music. (maybe on a long road-trip some day.)
normally the radio is manually tuned to the non-existent 99.3, volume 0.

Nah I also bought a 2-channel front/rear dash cam set-up around the same time, so I had a pro installer put them both in at the same time.

Just realized you want CD, and although this one can take music off my iPhone collection, stream Pandora and has Sirius XM, there's no CD.

And yes, my gal is quite a keeper

I got this Continental because it looks pretty natural in our cars. I basically only use the bluetooth, podcasts sometimes for myself, and music when I have the kids in the car. Works well when paired with decent speakers. Don't expect it to sound like a modern luxury vehicle sound-system though.

Default Alpine CDE-136BT with Pioneer Appradio

I went with an Alpine CDE-136BT Bluetooth DAB head unit and also a Pioneer SPA-DA110 Appradio unit.
I had to modify the lower part of the dash by cutting out and removing the ashtray and fitting a double-din cage. I then had the interior retrimmed in leather.
The Pioneer unit is great and I can connect my Smartphone using the Appradio Unchained app which mirrors my phone onto the unit.
Highly recommend.

If the existing crapped out CD player is the OEM Becker/Porsche CDR 210 unit,
there's a repair option with Becker Auto Sound in nearby NJ. Here is a link. www.beckerautosound.com
Many forum members have used repair with this shop when keeping their 993's originality.

The 12v aftermarket is awash with add-on modules equipped with Bluetooth, DSP , Aux input and amplification,, specifically tailored to acoustically upgrading the older OEM radio/head unit systems. Effective DSP will make your jaw will drop.

As already mentioned, for a quality aftermarket CD head unit with a high 993 aesthetic, the Continental brand units available through fellow 993 owner ToreB can't be beat - some say.
