The only transportation device I will replace my 993 with will be a pine box and I'll only take it for one ride

NSX is also a good replacement option, if the parts weren't all made of unobtanium.

Out of dreadful necessity, I had to replace my beloved-but-crashed-beyond-redemption 993 last year with a 2006 Cayman S which originally belonged to a fellow Rlister. As many have stated, the Caymans are small, agile cars with at least as much performance as the 993s, and for me at least the extra cargo space sure comes in handy. I'm quite happy with it.

^The frunk on the Cayman is slightly larger than the 911(997). I was surprised when I read that somewhere.

^^ The Cayman is just a great car, no way around it!

I totally agree...I am trying to convince myself to get a 993 to get more connection than is possible with a 991. I have a GT4, mostly for the track, and a 981CS that I could take out of hibernation... or sell.

Am I fooling myself ... or not ... in thinking a 993 would be a great next car? I have never owned an air-cooled Porsche, having just bought my first P car two years ago.

A GT4 would be more than enough Cayman to keep me happy!

I have owned my CS for almost 9-1/2 years, but only had 993 about a year and a half now. It's my first air-cooled Porsche, and I haven't regretted it for a second!

997.2 GT3. RS preferably, but the standard GT3 for the current prices.

My 993 ticks all of the boxes for me; old yet new, somewhat fast but not stupid, fairly easy for DIY, cool but not douchey, etc.
Ferraris' sticky interior switches are ridiculous, but it doesn't have to cost thousands to correct it. I cured the stickies in my 360 for the cost of a box of Q-Tips, a bottle of denatured alcohol and several hours of elbow grease. 355 and 348 maintenance costs are indeed high, but if you want to own a good reliable Ferrari, maintenance costs on a 360 are really not much more than for a 993 or 996, or a 430 which has even lower maintenance costs.

To the OP's question: I just don't think I could sell my 993. I've owned it since 1999 and plan to keep it forever......at least until I'm old and feeble and can't drive. Although an Aston Martin V8 Vantage would scratch an itch.
