what would you replace your 993 with?

Haven't driven one but I've got to admit, I'd have to give a used Jag F-Type R a hard look.
Gorgeous lines & can probably be found in the low $60's. That said, I would swap this Jag for the car sitting next to it in about 3 seconds.

30-35k for a good example of a RS4.. I've sold my 993 and picked up a rs4 .D efinitely ticks alot of boxes, scratches the itch for serious get up and go(420hp) great sound, third pedal, and very driver involved car...the RS really is quite a special car that often gets overlooked. Golf R not too bad either..and serious dough left over

My first 993 is irreplaceable. But I am planning on replacing my other 993...with a 964. Can't wait to DE with something slower, rawer, and even more challenging than the 993.

I bought a used cayman R more for track use. The first month i didnt enjoy driving it as a DD much at all and almost always used the 993. Then the 993 was in the shop for much of last fall and i had to drive the cayman regularly. It didnt take long to realize what a great car it is. And doesnt give up much in terms of driving feel and excitement, build quality and solid quality feel. Also small like the 993 compared to newer 911's which have swelled to ridiculous size. Still very glad to get back in my 993 - but i am not in the club that says no modern porsche is as fun.

Wow. First time I ever heard of anyone not loving their RS4. I regrettably sold my 2008 RS4 last year. Have been looking for another since. Amazing sound, 6 speed, quattro ****ing beast. Whats not to love?

I bought my 993 in 2000 and then got the itch for a Boxster, but couldn't sell the 993 so I became a 2-Porsche family. Then I replaced the Boxster with a Mini Cooper S, and that with an E46 M3, and that with a 987 Cayman, and that with a 991S Carrera. Just last week I added a new Macan GTS so we are officially a 3-Porsche family, now. The 993 4S is still in my garage. Just can't seem to get rid of it. It doesn't get a lot of miles put on it due to sharing all the miles with other cars in the stable. I think it's a keeper.

Ditto that, kind of. As an aside; My next door neighbor sold his 348 a few months back due to ludicrous service costs and gummy interior parts running into the thousands for freaking switches / bezels. Observing his Ferrari ownership experience killed any conceptions that I had regarding owning one.
My 993 ticks all of the boxes for me; old yet new, somewhat fast but not stupid, fairly easy for DIY, cool but not douchey, etc.

How does a GTI enter this conversation? I had an '02 fast and fun, but it is a FWD car. Everything breaks in it. I wanted to love that car for basic transport, but it was fast junk. Amazing Monsoon sound though and fast fast off the line if you could keep it in a straight line. How a about a 308, 328 if absolutely necessary. Would we be in range with either of those?
