Congrats on leveraging a thorough PPI to get favorable pricing AND getting a chance to look under the skirt of a 993 through the eyes of experienced wrenchers.

Enjoy the car in good health.

If your front seats are bad and you want to replace rather than refurb check out the replica hardback sport seats made by Waldemar in Germany. Some Zenith Blue painted hardbacks with grey hides would look sweet and freshen up the interior - see RLer FoxMan's former Zenith Blue and cashmere seats on page 7 here:

Yea. My leather guys says the driver seat is shot beyond repair. Those hardback seats look beautiful.

Hi all, I've been looking for a clean 993 and this caught my eye.. curious on your feedback.

1997 C4S, 36k mi, black/black, 1 owner.

http://showroom.auction123.com/mobil...AA2998VS320158

I tried searching for any previous posting on rl regarding this listing but didn't see any.

Similarly, any feedback with that seller would be appreciated too.

Looks like a nice car but you should go online and google the seller. I did that once and found his reputation to be less than stellar.

I, too, have been looking for a nice 993, and had not yet seen that one. (I am not keen on black, so probably not for me.) TG doesn't do a great job of presenting the cars that are actually available. Lots of cars on their site, but who knows which are available or already sold or whatever.

TG is not far from me and I have done a few transactions with AY there and all have been successful and without incident. That said, I have heard directly from one other source that he wouldn't buy anything there. YMMV.

In general, know what you're looking at and know what you're getting and it'll likely turn out fine. If you need some PPI places in the area, let me know.

Good luck and let me know if I can be helpful.

I just did as suggested, a Google search of Top Gear Porsche NJ.

Upon seeing the first negative report on a site, called something like Ripoffreport.com (a site/forum to vent about negative experiences), I read the first (and perhaps only) report and was not terribly impressed with the complainant’s story. And then I read his follow-up report, where he basically believes Top Gear NJ walks on water and said further he wanted to retract his first complaint but the site wouldn’t permit it.

http://m.ripoffreport.com/reports/to...t-purc-1130842

Be sure to read all the way to the bottom, where he provides his view of Top Gear’s redemption.

Remember, as with everything, just because it’s written on the Internet doesn’t make it true (unless, of course, it was written by DJT, in which case it’s always true, regardless of how untrue it might be; please forgive me for this—I couldn’t resist).

Not trying to provide a complete picture, but am trying to “get to the bottom” of TGPNJ’s reputation.

If you believe I am totally off, please share.

Thanks for the feedback dannycf and HelpMeHelpU! Reviews online for the seller is quite mixed, I definitely want to go see the car and their display in person as their inventory seems impressive from their online listings. It looks like they're appointment only, so I'll probably try to schedule something, it's a couple hours away, hopefully they can accommodate weekends.

Appreciate the offer to help, HelpMeHelpU, I will likely hit you up for reliable PPI locations nearby if we get to that point!

That's a sweet ride! I am partial to the wide body in black, too. I do prefer the non aero kit and awd, but will bookmark yours as well. Thanks!

Thats a good looking car at a good price. Really, it depends on service history. 5 owners, been all around the country.

I put hold on it and am going to take a look tomorrow or sat... just don't want the hurricane washing her away.

its frustrating buying from dealer as they have no maintenance history, be nice to find previous owner..

Good looking car but this does not say that it is a good car. The dealer is on my way to work and I may have a chance to have a quick look. The weather may make this difficult. Anyway, PPI is a must for a 50k purchase.
