Great American 993s for Sale + Price Discussion Thread
#1051
Can anyone comment on the current market for 993's? I'm looking to get back in. To me it seems prices have 'softened' as the aircooled hysteria has shifted to 964's. My MAX budget would be $60KUSD.

Based on current Auctions . . . . . prices remain for the most part flat over last year and holding steady. The 993 is the last of the Air Cooled cars and best iteration. Any excellent, good service history, lower mile car will bring a premium. Wide Body S, 4S, Turbo, RS etc... will always bring a premium. Always buy the best example you can afford or save until you can.

Have a look at the attached charts, they show confirmed sale prices for the last 18 months. The first chart is for widebodies broken down by 2S/4S. The second chart is for narrowbodies (all but 2 are C2's). As real rough guide, $60K will get you a 60k-mile narrowbody and a 100K-mile widebody. It appears that 2S's may be going for a bit more than 4S's at the moment , but need more data points to confirm. Hope this helps.

IMHO, that's ALL the money for that car with those miles (knowing nothing more about the car than what's presented).
Curious to hear people's thoughts on relative values (i.e. premiums and discounts) for the following:
1998 MY;
C2S (compared with each of C4S and C2);
Silver exterior;
Grey interior;
I'll go first:
1998 MY; --Premium of five to ten percent;
C2S (compared with each of C4S and C2); --Premium of five to seven percent against C4S and up to 50% against C2 ceteris paribus
Silver exterior; Par, no premium or discount
Grey interior; Personal taste, obviously; for me, discount at least ten percent

Including ours, there are only 3 (one occasionally) 993 track cars that show up at Potomac PCA DEs these days. Actually, it is rare to see air cooled on track these days. Just in case there is anyone who wants to enjoy the sound of air cooled motor on the track, the link to our race car FS ad in the classified.

We had it at VIR last weekend and it was a joy to drive it.
