...More importantly they don't have to be Federalized with parts replacement etc. unless the cars are going to California.

... more, more importantly is that it's a damn shame the 5k mile C4S was never driven... too much talk about collections and resale... and then you die. Hopefully new owner will drive it.

well.... I know collectors that have 20+ cars in their stable and some never get driven. Too many cars to drive hence the low miles. Amazing but true.

A very small percentage of the population with very large amounts of money is still a relatively big number of people with essentially unlimited budgets to buy whatever they want.

US Duty will only be 2.5% and door to door transport is under $4000. So factoring in Euro/US exchange rate for an additional $6000 max you will be able to have at your door a European example which significantly enhances the choice pool. Ask me how I know.
great points...whats a good site to search for EU cars?

This assumes the 993 sale prices in Europe are lower than those of the US in order to enable positive arbitrages, which I'm not sure is the case.

No chance 993's coming here from Europe are going to cost less. Most of the 993's manufactured ( i believe) were for the US market anyway- so while you can get one there, I doubt it's going to cost less. My former 911, a 1985 Carrera ended up in the Netherlands and sold last summer to another EU buyer for $ 80K euro!! That's insane money- but the market for these air coolers in EU is strong.

Gents: To clarify, I did not say they were going to cost less. Quite the opposite, I can infer that domestic cars will cost a bit less, Ex states like California due to emissions, but my reasoning is that you can find a more interesting spec'd example with a larger color pallet in Europe than what we are used to finding in the domestic market. And starting next year one will be able to import the 1996 models at 2.5% duty. I did not imply that a Euro model will cost less. Just the choice pool will be larger. Colors that are considered Paint to Sample in the US were available standard pallet in Europe and other specs like the 3 spoke no airbag steering wheel and others you can see in Euro cars are not available from factory in US spec cars. The Euro exchange is not favoring us right now but assuming that levels off and the vehicle example is worthy of the import premium. Personally that would be the way to go for me having just gone through it recently on another 911 variant.

A few desirable MODs aside, am still surprised by a NB w/ 73k on odo going out the door for close to $80k.
