Anyone else in the Midwest/Northeast/West/Canada driving your 993 year round?
I just turned in my VW fraudwagon diesel and am running the 993 with snow tires again. It's my only car.
The first few years I owned the car I drove it year round. Now I am back at it.

Must be his Eastern European ancestry that makes him think like this. "Snow? What snow, we sleep in snow. Snow is nice for making pillow". I started my TT yesterday because it was chilly outside, a frigid 69 degrees.

It's awesome that you drive it year around. It's got to be fun. I just can't get past the damage salt does. I grew up in Northern OH and had several of my favorite cars get eaten up because of it. I know cars are made better now, but I guess it's the memory that haunts me.

Good for you! I can't say when I last saw a 993 being driven here in the Winter Months. I guess with values climbing most just park it. All the 993 owners here with the PCA don't DD theirs. Mine doesn't see the light of day until April.

Yes, I daily drive my 993 year round in Minnesota.
I purchased this 4S in December of 2011 with 69K miles on it.
Now I have about 97K, so I only drive 5K - 6K miles per year.
You can't obsess about keeping it clean or it will drive you nuts.
Snow tires are required. I was able to put together a set of the proper 7" and 8" Cup II wheels for "winter use" with the proper offsets for the wide body.
With ABD, ABS, snow tires, and the weight over the rear wheels, the 4S makes for a good winter driver - but you knew that...

Mine's a DD in southeastern PA although, because I'm a sometime consultant working at home, it doesn't get driven every day. Winter wheels with snows went on a couple of weeks ago. I've been doing this since 2002 when I bought the car while living in central New Jersey.
In February, like I did last year, I'll be driving to Indiana to see family. That's about 1200 miles round trip. Except for truly deep snow that would keep most sane drivers at home until the plows go through, the 2S has plenty of rear traction. The front can feel light at times so I drive accordingly.
There's plenty of salt in this area and, the last few years, also chemicals sprayed on dry roads in advance of coming storms. All nasty. Spring cleanup takes time and doesn't get rid of everything, I'm sure. But, with 105k on the clock, I still love the car every day.

Great responses! Thanks.
I figure most people don't or wouldn't for obvious reasons. It makes me happy to hear that I am not the only foolish one!

When I was a kid, I really liked summer. When I grew up, I understood that you can buy summer for money. Now I just really like money (an irreverent Russian joke).
