Default A Very Clean Bill of Health...

Fired up the 993 today and went and visited Mike J. What a great guy - took the car for a quick test drive, popped it up on the hoist, removed panels, looked in the nooks and crannies, checked the suspension, finding new things etc... all the while educating me and getting me to appreciate all the 993 systems to the fullest. And the verdict? A very clean bill of health (not that I ever doubted you Bert!). Only one small small oil seeping spot and some mild play in the suspension bushings. In other words, nothing that needs to be immediately done. We laughed! No work for Mike... yet.

Mike - thanks again so much. I've got good notes on your suspension suggestions, wheels, etc...

Cheers and I'll see you at your BBQ coming up.

In good hands with Mike J!

Any update on the parasitic power drain problem you were seeing?

We found a couple of things Brian

1. Some odd aftermarket cabling in the front - most likely to the kill-swith

2. Aftermarket lights on the dash and some switch of unknown purpose on the centre consul.

All this being said, it may just be the old alarm system that is sucking the power. Time to work out plugging it on on the trickle charger. Anyone wire one of these in for quick hook-up?

We did not measure the static drain current - I guess we should have, but then the radio code would have been needed and that was not in the car. If the problem persists, then taking measurements might make sense to see if the current draw is excessive, and then try to find the system that is pulling the current, prob though selective unplugging ...

Cheers,

Mike

Cool Mike. I'll let you know this week. I have the radio code and we can do that. Tx.

Love to Rinty but family calls. I've been away so much.

However, just planning the annual "Friday Duffy Lake Hooky Run" on Friday August 12. We'll probably drive out to Princeton, up the 5A, over to Merritt and the 8 to Spences Bridge, then up the 1 to Lilloette and down the Duffy Lake. You in?

Totally 100%. I've done a very uncomplicated study of when I've rec'd speeding tickets and have concluded following: Dates between May 24th and Sept 1 + Sunny + Weekend + Holiday Weekend = HIGH HIGH HIGH probability. I think I'll stay home and tool around an empty city. Maybe an early am Friday Hill Climb up Seymour Mt and down for coffee. Mike - you in?

Sorry I can't make it, but thanks for the invite. That's a great route. Hwy 8 is particularly interesting. When I went through there, there was a one lane section through a big slide; it looked like granular coal. Wish I'd taken a picture, but I was worried the mountain side might let go.

I did get some at nearby Logan Lake:

This is Donster's car now.

Has the Duffy been repaved in recent years? It was real rough on that trip (2008).

Have a great run!
