Default Interior (dome) light

OK - simple problem; The interior light (between the visors -Targa) will not come on when I open the door(s). It works, because when it's in the "always-on" position, it lights up. In addition, the glove box light will not come on either.

Any help?

TIA

On the coupe there are 3 positions, actually they are more like toggle positions on the light lens. Position 1. Off 2. On when the Doors are open and 3. Always On. The "switched" position is the middle position Don't know if this is applicable on the Targa.

Targa is supposed to be; 1-tilted forward) always on, 2-middle) always off, 3-tilted back) on with doors open.

Have you looked at the micro switches? The door switch could be loose, damaged, etc.

Does your trunk light work? On my Cab they are all (cabin, glove box, trunk, and Tip lights on the dash) on the same fuse.

My dome lights do not come when the door is opened? Tried the three settings, in position two & three the light stays on with the door open or closed.

Eddy it sounds like you have a problem with the door micro switches. Setting 3 the light will always be on no matter if the door is open or closed. Setting 1 the lights will always be off (doors open or closed) Setting 2 should be switched so that it goes on and off with the opening and closing of the door. Realize also there is a delay on it turning off after opening the door when you get out unless you lock the car with the remote then the light will go off. HTH

Although my situation was a bit different than yours Eddy, my problem turned out to be the light switch itself - it wasn't making good contact in position one, so I had to tweak it a bit to make sure the two contact points (at each end of the bulb) were properly connected. It's light metal and bends quite easily, so tweaking was easy.

Good luck.
