It was a pleasure mr.curry

Good to see you achieved what you set out to do and I'll be sure to post Mk9 up on Thingiverse very shortly.
Nice one

Mr. Curry,
Nice solution! Can you share the source or relevant dimensions of the sealing washers? I will be installing a remote bleeder on a friend's 993 fairly soon.

Limey - great job on that bracket.

I think LimeyBoy suggested the washers as well

Dowty sealing, or bonded washers. Again I chose a UK supplier. Size M6.

Wow - the price sure has increased since last month! You must be able to get these locally? If you want me to post you one, I'd be very happy to do so.

Nice job! Curious what type of filament you guys are using in order to handle the high heat?

That's a 3D material question.

I used a local company to print the bracket for me, and the best they had was ABS - they said their ABS 'has a glass transition temperature of 105°C which may be a better option. This prints at 255 °C.'

So this was one reason why I didn't want the bracket directly above the engine.

As the sticker on the electric box still looks like new after 27 years and 77k miles, I'm thinking that shows the temperatures there are low enough.

One of the advantages of routing the hose through the LHS side of the engine direct from the clutch-slave (which is on the LHS of the transmission) means there are a few cables/thick-wires where I can add several fail-safe zip-ties. But the hose isn't going to foul anything anyway, even in worst-case.

Thanks for sharing Orangecurry. Found same at Grainger here in the US for $0.83ea.

Just to finish this off from my experience.

Limey's bracket works perfectly; and the angle that it attaches to the fusebox is ideal to route the hose away from the engine.

I will report back on any effect on the bracket in hot conditions.

PS I never clean cosmoline off of engines/compartments.

Where is it?

I’d like to do this on my 1995 993. Has anyone put together a list of part numbers that can be sourced in the USA? I saw a list from 2016.
Is that still valid for the this latest MK9 version?

I know nothing about 3D printing can anyone print me an MK9 version bracket - happy to pay a reasonable fee. Or suggest an online site that will print it for me. Looked on Thingiverse for the first time tonight and did not see the MK9 version yet.

Awesome idea. Thanks to all involved in putting it together and improving it along the way.

Regards

The Mk9 might not work for the 'bulkhead end' of a hose you source in the US. Limey designed it specifically for the below, which has a 14mm 'fixed' nut on the inner, and a thread on the outer onto which I spun a free 14mm nut.

Does that make sense?

I like where you have located your remote fitting and prefer this to on/over the engine. If I cannot make your setup work on my car I will buy
the summit bracket and go from there. Not as elegant as yours but it will work.

Thanks

@Funracer I can take a look at the orig usa parts and mod a Mk9 into a Mk10 to suit. So you could use the orig parts in the new relay box location. I'm slow, give me a bit.. .

Just an epilogue on this from me - due no doubt to
1 - cheap materials
2 - my constraints on the design
and
3 - possibly too tight installation (no factory guidance!)
...the mk9 failed in use.
As I said above, with a side-of-engine installation there is nowhere bad for the hose to go, so post-failure, it was sitting/hanging safely above the spark-plug wires.

Limeyboy has again very kindly designed a nuclear-proof mk11, which is basically a solid piece rather than two halves, to allow for poor materials in the 3D printing - hat's off to him again!

Here is the chunky fella....

...and here installed in the same place as before.

Ended up buying and using the Summit Racing setup that Samurai_K found earlier in this thread. Not keen on drilling holes so was able to mount the bracket by turning it backwards and using the heat duct band clamp as pictured.

Notice the band goes thru the hole in the Summit bracket on the short side and clamps the longer side of the bracket to the heat duct coupling. Bled my clutch slave today and this setup was quite stable. No holes or cutting required. The fit could be made better if someone could put a curve into the base of the bracket that matched the curve on the heat duct, but I am really happy the way it is now.

Amazingly there were no leaks from any of the fittings. And after a test drive, for the first time since I have owned the car the clutch pedal did not hang at the top when released.

Thanks to everyone that initiated and improved this idea. I works really well.
