What did you do with your 993 today

I bought my 993 Cab in 2021. I've always DIY'ed almost everything on my prior 997, but for some reason I was kind of intimidated by the 993 and let mechanics do all the initial "sorting" work -- new brakes, belts, exhaust, plus an oil change last year. This year my local shop quoted over $500 (!!) for a simple oil change so I decided it's finally time to learn to wrench on my 993. I did the oil change yesterday and it was super satisfying and actually not that difficult! It took about 4 hours because I'm generally slow with car work. It's certainly the hardest oil change of any car I've ever owned, but the online DIY guides were insanely helpful and each step went off without a hitch. Still kind of mad about the placement of the small oil filter, though! The shop that installed it put it on quite tightly so pulling it off was really difficult with my limited selection of hand tools. Beyond that, I was actually shocked that disassembling so many pieces off a 28-year-old car was so simple. After tax and everything, I think close to $400 saved!

I replaced my exhaust muffler with new one, very nice sound and have to wait the rain stops for a test drive....

Instead of removing the bumperetts, choose to keep them but painted to match the body. I really like the cleaned up look. Also new are headlights, fog lights, wind screen and back window. Hood, fenders and front bumper down to the metal and repainted to remove over 110,000 miles of wear and tear. Full PPF followed.

I read this method on an old thread that has helped me tremendously with reading oil level. The night before I plan on checking my level I pull the dipstick and plug the tube with a rolled paper towel. The next morning I drive it up to temp and check the oil level. The dipstick being out overnight let’s the small amount of oil that gets brought up by the dipstick to settle back down and so the tube is completely clean when you check the next morning so the level is significantly easier to read. Hope this helps

I rarely pull the dipstick. As long as I have any movement on my oil level gauge I'm good! I only drive the car around 4000 miles per year so never really have to mess around with checking the oil in between changes!

For several years I wanted to fix my gauges/instruments back to OE spec and now was finally the time.
Tore @ Bergville FX took the job and cleaned up my instruments, put in new faces, lights and fixed the electronics from PO trials and error.
The speedo was calibrated from mph to km/t aswell. The job is outstanding and they look brand new.
Tore is the man if you want your gauges/instruments back to OE spec!
I celebrated with a spirited b-road drive.
New gauges/instruments in action on the highway.

Had to get a new head unit after my new Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB buttons stopped responding. Less than a year old so I’ll send it in for repair

Lost AC. Problem was the engine cooling fan came apart. A few fan blades broke off and one of them cut the AC line. Also destroyed the housing. Porsche tech says it happens to these fans which are 25 plus years old. Wish I had known before and I would have replaced it for preventative maintenance purposes. If your fan is original, probably something to look into or check out. This turned into an expensive repair.
