Headed out for a beautifully crisp Autumn Day drive.. Stopped at Dusk / Sunset to take some photos..

New Outlaw Garage decals..

..then got back in the Dark..! We reverted back to GMT from BST this Weekend in the UK, so the early Sunset caught me a little off guard..

Have to comment on the new Michelin Rubber.. Awesome.. There are a coupla sections on the drive that [before] I have noticed the rear let me know about, but on this occasion, they stuck like glue.. Fronts felt super sticky early on in the drive too.. As for the change from 17" to 18", didn't notice it too much, perhaps on poor sections of black top..?

Kingroon, Did you notice a slower acceleration with the 18" setup. Especially with the taller 235/275 setup?

I think the difference is only a couple percent. I’ve never noticed it either, and I switch back and forth a couple times per year. It might be my imagination, but I do sometimes think I can feel an improved ride quality due to the taller sidewalls.

I do appreciate the slightly wider footprint.

I thoroughly cleaned both headlight assemblies.
Removed them from the fender; unclipped the front lens from the rest of the housing; cleaned the front lens, reflectors, etc; cleaned out the bucket recesses in the fenders; and reassembled it all.
There’s still rock pitting on the glass lenses, but the interior is no longer foggy/dusty looking. I’ll be putting X-pel lens protection film on shortly.

I also replaced relay R42 to cure my interval wiper woes. The old relay malfunctioned and the wipers could not be turned off without turning off the ignition. T’was a pain to drive in light rain as I had to keep stopping when the rain quit.....

I had to troubleshoot a dead HID headlight, pass side. Swapped the ballasts and it moved to the driver's side. Need to order a ballast . Might as well get those LED bulbs for the tails from Tore too.

Replaced the rear rotors and pads and bypassed the pad wear sensors.

AND, installed new engine mounts (stock.) Can't believe the improvement in driveability and shifting smoothness. I should have done that sooner!

Took my 96 to Perfect Power in the Chicago suburbs yesterday to do a laundry list before I put it away for the winter. A 90 miles drive for me through Chicago traffic, around Ohare airport etc and the car ran flawlessly. Oil change, CV boot, horn pads, check over front and rear suspension. General check to have it ready to drive next spring. This is the first real money I have spent on her since buying it over three years ago. It has been an amazingly reliable 993 even with 121,000 on it.

Fixed a troublesome shifter location using the adjustment in the Goldenrod, replaced the steering rack bushings, and added the steering rack reinforcement bar to handle future 18" wheels.

At Darin Fister's suggestion, I adjusted the Goldenrod by removing the two bolts holding the ball joint and rotated the whole assembly to adjust the shifter position. This way I avoided having to pop the ball out of the cup and potentially damaging the cup.

I used four new bolts (with Loctite already on the threads) in installing the bushing retainers/reinforcing rod, reusing the existing washers from the original bolts.

Adjustable end of Goldenrod

Steering rack

Old bushing, screws, and bushing retainer

Putting everything back together
