I have been busy this week, I bought: Koni shock/struts, row m030 springs, shock tower brace, a set of 18” RUF wheels, new Michelin cup 2 tires, a motorsound air box and a set on fister 2 mufflers. It should be a busy weekend installing these goodies!

drove mine friday for the first time in a few years. She's been sitting waiting for me to pull the trigger on a valve job, decarbon of the ports and a few other issues that had her sidelined for a while. Got her back Friday afternoon. She is 95% back have a couple of other issues to sort through and she will be back in perfect form. Now need some new tires due to flatspotting and a couple of window switches and she will be as goods as new. Missed her bad but had a great drive home. Sadly it has rained ever since so the back in the garage for now

You have to start a new thread on this. You've owned this 993 for about 16 years now. I still remember the road trip from Arizona (I think) when you bought it. This is a great back to road story!

I must say, you have a better memory than I do. I actually purchased the car 16 years ago this week. Bought it on 12/19/03 and did buy it in Tucson Arizona at Beaudry Porsche and drove it back cross country getting into Atlanta exactly 16 years ago today (then lived in Alabama, moved back here after running out of stuff to do there in 18 months ) Interestingly I learned when I got her to Atlanta on that trip and ended up needing to replace the RMS and clutch that she was originally delivered to Atlanta. Turns out that she was a demo car and was (according to the then Service manager at Jim Ellis Atlanta) delivered as the personal car for the Sr Mrs Ellis in 97. She drove it for 6 months and then it ended up at a Las Vegas Dealer and then went to live in Tucson with a Dr who traded her in for a 996 C4s (bet he regrets that). Guess that makes me officially the 2nd owner? Bought it CPO at the time. Just went and checked my early threads shopping, asking questions, finding the right place for a PPI. For most of its life the car has been pretty great to me. Was my daily till 2014, though I have worked from home since before I bought her so I added miles slowly. She has been parked for the most pat the last 3 years as the Carbon issue made getting emissions here in GA impossible. I know I could have applied for waivers but I wanted to do it right. Had Jerry at German Car Repair in Alpharetta do a full valve job, clean out the ports some of which were completely blocked with Carbon, had to do a full AC Service, replace the AC control and alternator due to some sort of electrical issue and no I didn't use Tore's service but perhaps should have, bought the reconditioned Porsche unit. Replaced every fluid, drained the tank, new fuel filters. Right now trying to see if the O2 sensors which are flashing errors will come back to life with a bit of spirited driving but if not are going to need to replace them too to get this thing fully back on the road. What's crazy is that my wife was pregnant with #2 at the time and now what is my daily is about to become my soon to be 16 years old car and the 993 will be back to being my daily driver. Seems just yesterday

I will put up a separate post later today need to go do some last minute christmas stuff..

Would like to hear more about what you and Jay did for this project.

there are already endless 3.8 build threads on this and the 964 forum. but, it's a "middle of the road" build. wanted something that was stronger and i could drive hard and not worry about stressing/breaking things but still just require "routine" maintenance.

- mahle 3.8 rsr motorsport p&c
- custom carillo rods/carr bolts
- 993 rs cams (kept hydraulic lifters)
- gt3 oil pump
- mwfw
- custom chip

Put 550 miles on mine with a great co-pilot and a terribly unhealthy wing meal. Well maintained, the 993 is an awesome road-trip car - capable, fun but pretty practical too. Turns a drive in to an adventure

I love how that low-mileage car was saving itself all this time for some real use!!!

^^^Yes sir! I’ll put more miles on it this week than the prior owner did during his tenure as custodian. Has worked well for me - nearly immaculate inside/out and I’ve enjoyed refreshing the mechanicals that quickly failed after long periods of non/limited use. After nearly a year and a lot of time, effort and $$$, the car feels incredible.
