Hey Joel, great idea. IT WORKED! I sent a message in Polish this morning asking for a status update. I just received a response with DHL tracking number! They shipped it out last Thursday, so hopefully I'll see it later this week or early next week.

(Too bad I had to ask them for tracking info. Should be normal procedure IMO)

Just stumbled upon this thread with potential interest in recovering my stock steering wheel. Seems to look great in the pictures.

So, you guys are sending your steering wheels to Poland? Nobody in the USA can do it for the ~300 bux they are charging with shipping etc?

I had Dallas Custom Steering Wheel do mine for another car (not my Porsche) and it turned out really well. I paid $320.

As I live only a few miles away, I was very comfortable with the whole transaction and pleased with the results.

The Carsdream price I mentioned earlier did not include the airbag. In hindsight, had I known how long this was going to take, and how expensive the shipping costs were, I would likely have opted for a US vendor such as Dallas Steering Wheel.

Sorry Ken - I didn't mean inclusive of the absurd shipping cost. Airbag recover is about 100 euro, which is less than RT shipping for sure.

For those of you who have had work done by Carsdream, I'm curious how long the return shipment took. Carsdream shipped my SW on May 19 with DHL (I paid extra for expedited shipping). DHL tracking has shown the package near Frankfurt since May 22 (a week ago today) saying "The shipment will be transported to the destination country and, from there, handed over to the delivery organization. (Homepage / online shipment tracking: )" I've found various posts via Google suggesting that DHL can be a royal PITA getting past this step, sometimes taking weeks. Curious what the experience of others here has been for delivery time to the US, and if there were any issues with customs.

Thanks. BTW, how did you get to pick FedEx? Carsdream only gave me the choice of regular or premium shipping. I opted for premium and they apparently used DHL.

OK, I'll stop whining now. My steering wheel arrived this morning. While the box looked pretty beaten up, the wheel inside was OK. It came out exactly as I hoped. Great workmanship and quality. It feels very similar to the steering wheel on my Macan because of the additional padding I had installed under the new leather. Got it installed and took it for a drive a short while ago, and love it! The emblem on the airbag, that I found on eBay, completes the refreshed look of the factory wheel IMO.

The leather is black, although the lighting gives it a bluish hue.

And I'm still waiting for tracking number. Assuming another set of holidays in Poland... Was hoping to have the wheels back by now.

did you spec the thickness? Looks great but very "fat" in the pics.
