Default My new Supercup engine M64/70

Yesterday evening IT arrived!
My new Supercup engine M64/70. It was originally from a 1995 Supercup who competed in Europe. The plan is to install it in my 993 Carrera 1994 during winter (early next year).

My engine has now been renovated including:
• 6 new cylinders, pistons, connecting rods
• 12 new valves and rocker arms (Forged rockers from 993 GT2 Evo M64/83)
• 2 new heads
• All six heads prepared and optimized
• 1 new camshaft (right)
• Otherwise, the entire engine was disassembled including crankshafts and all bearings etc. are new.

I will write more about this in this thread, but start by posting a picture of the engine next to my 993

Last a 993 Supercup and a closeup of a M64/70 engine inside a Supercup!

The silver thing at the top of the photo (rear of the engine intake manifold) is an intake trumpet with a mesh filter.

Yes I got the harness and RSR DME with the CUP engine.
But we hope to be able use the stock harness and remap my 993 C2 1994 DME. This is because we plan to remove the CUP intake and install my MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) and air filter on the CUP engine. This is to make it run good also in the lower rev range, not just 4000-7000.
I am willing to sacrifice the extreme intake sound to make it more drivable. My car is still going to be used as a street/track car with A/C and power steering.

From factory: 3.8 liter with 315 HP and 370 Nm.

Now we hope it will deliver a little more hp and torque. We will see .....

yes, I know.

But you have promptly stuffed that intake into the front of the engine compartment.

Perhaps the better question is, what is your source of cool fresh air for the intake.

My plan it to install my standard MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) and standard air filter on the CUP engine.
I´m not going to invest in a GruppeM intake (for now) and think the second best solution is the standard setup. Or?

Total engine bay volume is around 80-100 litres. A 3.75 litre engine running full throttle at 6000rpm and 95% VE consumes around 175-200 litres of air per second. Add to that the consumption of the main engine cooling fan and you can rightfully deduce that the air in the engine bay is replenished at least twice per second with all the fresh air coming in through the engine lid.

Well done, nice engine (and great investment). We've remapped a couple of these engine on our dyno, typically they make around 325hp.
My recommendation would be to fit X-flow 100 cell cats (or cat bypasses) on stock silencers and heat exchangers, then do a live remap.
