My New 993 Journey
Greetings from the 964 side. last fall i decided i wanted to start looking for a 993,
because of my location i was preferring a C4 (better on snow) but then again I never drive in the winter...wait i already have a 964 C4 and its never seen snow lol
Christmas was coming and so was my 60th birthday and i was getting anxious and really wanted to buy before the spring time
My budget was around 35K US which left me with not a lot to choose from.
I was also expecting i would have to find one that needed some work, with my limited budget.
So I started my search from coast to coast. I wanted one that had Cashmere interior and black or amazon green or blue exterior, so my choices where even getting tighter
I found my baby at Aberu Motors in IL Black and Tan and 35K 122K miles a little hi but i was prepared to do some work on the motor when the time came (just like my 964)
Aberu Motors were great to deal with & I got what I expected (very helpful staff)
Now I just needed to get it home, i opted for a transport company to meet me at the US border then i would drive it home from there (on the coldest day of the year i might add )
What a great ride
So here i am happier then a piggy in snow
the first thing i did was look up on RL how to get the daytime running lights to stay on (Canadian rules), i found it by shorting out R31 (pin 30 & 87)and don’t forget to reinstall the relay
Also needed a wheel alignment and cracked tail light
O, and i probably won’t be able to keep both cars
Here are a few pics of my beginnings

Welcome, it looks like your 993 has seen snow. I'm very happy for you.
Your impressions on the differences between the 964 and the 993 would be interesting after you have gotten to know your new ride. Maybe you can share them.

Very nice Glenn, welcome to the "Prairie 1995 911 C4 w. cup wheels" family! Must have been pretty unpleasant watching the dollar drop the last few months, hopefully you got some USD when you first started your search.
Cheers

I always find it amusing that we as owners try only to drive these cars on the sunniest and most temperate days. You always see folks saying I never drive in the rain or sellers saying never driven in the rain or snow. Porsche tests these cars in insane environments. Usually the same group of cars are tested from the hottest/driest/dustiest African environments to the coldest/wettest/snowiest reaches of northern Europe and we're here thinking, hmmm... should I use water to wash my car?
Congrats on your new ride, it looks amazing in the snow!
jfyi - I only drive on nice sunny days

i have lots of pics and the full restore of my 964 on the 964 forum
if there is interest let me know
The first difference i found when i fist took off was the ease of steering and quieter cabin compared to 964, BUT the the 964 has an attachment to you that is unique and can't be replaced
i love them both, and going to have a hard time giving up
