Default Correct air compressor for 1996 993

Anyone know if the proper compressor is the plastic ribbed cage with or without the emergency light? I read this thread and there are 3 compressors listed but there doesn't seen to be definitive resolution.

my 96 came with the ribbed case with the emergency light. It recently burnt out, so I've been using my bicycle floor pump instead...

The stock compressor is really of very low quality. I switched mine out with a Harbor Freight special:

The reviews on that Harbor Freight compressor are less than overwhelming...

i agree - doesn't really inflate even after 10 minutes and meanwhile is getting super hot.

Mine did not come with the emergency light. It worked fine on the occasions that I had to use it. I think that the part that goes in the cigarette lighter broke and I replaced it. It has a place in the garage, somewhere. My first 993 ('95 C2) had the same unit. IF you want a photo I could do that tomorrow. It's to friggen cold to go out tonight.

Can anyone post a photo of the correct compressor unit for a 993, and accessories?

Is this the correct unit?

That was not the one that came with my 1996. I had one of those after my original burnt out, but that one, pictured, burned out even faster than the original.

#10 above -- is a 996 compressor.

I plugged my 993 compressor in just for a trial, when i pulled the plug out all the lighter came with it, its a very tight fit.

So be careful disconnecting it - its a real PITA to get the lighter connected up and back in.
