A local 993 turbo that was raced..for sale.
A frind of mine who is a used car manager at a local VW dealer has this car for sale. It was raced for a good part of it's life, 40,000kms on the clock. 100L fuel tank in the frunk, Kinesis wheels, Fire system, full cage, converted to RWD, GT2 turbos etc... They want 80,000$ for it. It is plated for road use in QC, but not sure if many other provinces or states allow a car like this to be plated for the road.
Is it worth 80,000$ CDN?
Please excuse the garbage pics..it's all that he sent me.

At $72,000 USD, I'd say its worth a lot more than that. This seems like a very good deal in today's market. A few years ago, not so much.
It could always be brought back to stock and rebuilt if necessary.
Seems like a no-brainer to me.
Edit: this is not a factory turbo? Then no. What did it start out as?

Being a "race-car" there is a lot of extraordinary wear that happens - suspension, driveline, engine, etc. More heat cycles, body stresses, etc. However, the turbos have appreciated like crazy as well, so that brings up the base pricing.
For someone who is prudent, buys parts off rennlist and other sources, this car can be brought back to stock specs if needed - but it will always have been raced which will reduce it's value.
What is it's mechanical and body shape?
I would say $80,000CDN, if a PPI is clean, is a fair price if its going to be a street car, but it also depends on what your intentions are for the car, and how permanent the changes made were. At 40,000kms (28,000 miles) its a low mileage example which, if it was stock and unraced, would be in the $115K + range in Canada. If the car is to be continued to race, then it may be worth it. If you are going to stock, then you need to allow for the costs of doing that - did they damage the car doing the modifications? Are all the parts taken off the car still around?
Little worried about a Turbo's engine with 40,000 km's of 'racing' on it ... was the engine rebuilt or refreshed in its life?
Cheers,
Mike

It's worth maybe half that. Race prepped 993s are going for 40's with stock engines. Not sure if turbo adds value in a car for the track, i would imagine the opposite.
It's whole different market when it comes to race cars.

in looking at the pictures, it would need alot of TLC to go back perfectly stock for street. Electrical, fuel system, interior, bits and pieces..
$75k is too high for anybody converting back to street and 75k is also too high for a track car that has no real class worth talking about and will require a full overhaul/inspection before being trackworthy again.
I would love to put this back on the road but then again i am a sucker for projects.

I know of another turbo for sale for similar money that the owner gutted to make a HPDE car, all of the AC/Heat crap in the trunk has been removed but is included. Now that's a project to put back together!

I think it took me a hour and half to remove my airbox which included the removal of the gas tank and half the fuse panel. Not at all a hard job to put back these parts if they are included. Rs carpet set plus a chance to buy hardbacks and cleanup the interior alittle with rs dash install and there you have it back to near stock. If you know what your doing and can source these parts online from someone like my partout then its a simple fix. Its fun to work on cars. A gt2 clone would be just amazing to own and what a perfect base to begin with.
