Default CAN SOMEONE IDENTIFY 993 SWAY BAR

i am PLEASED i MADE U LAUGH

Another Tool to be added to the Collection - In Toronto, add 45% to those Prices - Now theres a Laugh for ya - Ouch!!

Actually I pinched a nerve under my left shoulder blade - so I was trying to avoid Jacking the car up for the 7th or 8th time already this year!!

Now we have a cheapie quality Tool joint known as Princess Auto here in Toronto so I will take a wander up there and report my findings LOL.

I know theres one in Buffalo, where I have to go to get my V Twin Oil - since I can not get that in Toronto either FYI.

Glad I could cheer u guys up !! LOL

TJ,
A flashlight and cheapie China made, 6" digital venier caliper set to mm, will give you your answer. You might be able to get a caliper on the bar without jacking up the car, but then again its only one wheel you have to lift...

All toolboxes should contain a digital venier caliper. On sale, they are $10 US; ordinarially $19 at Harbor Freight tools.

Kika Thanks

I was wondering why the front sway has the dab of white paint.

Now actually I am wondering if the POwner installed the 21MM Turbo Bar.

I will measure since It appears I am here only to provide huimour and can not seem to get a "Straight Answer "Yet" from the online guru's

I was hoping to avoid Jacking the car again due to a pinched nerve.

Thanks for sharing about the Rear 21 MM Turbo Sway Bar.

I have a friend who upgraded his 97 Coupe to the RS Sways.
He says it Transformed his car.

I am New to Porsche Land. I have done most of the basic maintenance on my car from reading here on Rennlist. Thanks Guys!

I am trying to get the car dialed in so I can do more DE Events then do Stand Up Comedy at all the worthy tracks in the US (LOL) like Sebring VIR and Road America to name a few.

On my first DE the instructor made a comment about my Cars Handling so this is why I am doing the research before I make a change. Be nice to know what I have now to make an informed decision before a change.

FWIW I went with the RoW Turbo Rear bar, which is 21mm, and a very nice setup. I do not think mine has a white paint stripe on it. I bought it from Sunset.

my original comment was not intended as a joke or an insult, that is how I actually figured out which bar I used to have on the rear. I was concerned because the original owner installed M030 springs, but I was unsure if the bars were also changed.
Keith,
I understood your response as totally informational...
Its just that you snatched the thought right outta my head as I was reading the post; wondering, why doesn't he just measure the damn thing?

this is why I am doing the research before I make a change.
TJ,
Most of the gear head guys believe that trying to measure and figure stuff out, is part of, "doing the research", as opposed to posting a somewhat simplistic question because you dont want the aggravation of having to jack a wheel off the ground.

Good luck in your standup routine!

actually it would be really interesting to have a list with paint markings and part numbers/bar size for quick ref.

we should somehow formulate a list.

I sure do wonder how the RS bar transformed the car. Now you have me thinking.. owww my monies bag, damn

Default M030 Sway Bar Stabilizer / Drop Link

Thanks for your suggestions. Thats exactly what I need.
The Cheapee Digital likely a Knock Off Broke on first use.
If my eyes are good it read 22mm.

I have another question - would u mind?

I now know that I have M030 22 MM Front Swat Bar with M030 drop links.

I need to replace the front Left Drop Link - there is some play. I hear the Rs sway Drop Links are stronger. ?

Can I upgrade - Keep my M030 Front Sway Bar and Upgrade by installing the RS Drop Link?

If I made this change, would this change Geometry?

I have acquired a Pic for comparison purposes which appears one is shorter but looking for the answer from someone who has actually tried it.

Also, How would this RS Sway change Steering feedback?
Rougher ride? other than the subjective perspective.

Any other thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks Tom

Thank You.
That is a Constructive idea.
i am sure many other members here would benefit!
Including Me.
Thank You!
Tom

PS<> I went out and Bought the Digital caliper.
It must have been a cheap Knock-Off - It broke on first use.
It appears the white dab of paint on my Sway is 22 MM

i was going to suggest the OP to search Bill Verburg posts for this info since this sounds like something he would have volumes of info and a spreadsheet on Funny enough, I found my own asking of the same question a while a go....and Bill's response, which implies no color coding scheme.
And the plot thickens...

yes

For now it seems the only way isa to measure.

I am considering some changes so I too was first wanting to verify my cars existing equipment - to establish a base car to weork with - since it is New to me. Second I need to find and address a minor fix in my current suspension.

Next is to confirm my Green and Orange Front Springs.
Then confirm rear Springs are M030 - due to ride height ? now.

Kika mentioned he switched to a Rear 21MM Turbo Sway Bar and I wonder if the Rear of the Turbo would be the same on your car?

I posted pics on your post of my M030.
thanks keith

FWIW I have Bilstein HDs with M030 springs paired with M030 front sway and RoW Turbo rear sway. A little aggressive for a street car, but I love the set up.
