Default DIY - Steps to R&R the Resonance Flap

Building on the last DIY on testing the engine flaps, here is a DIY that
addresses the issue of repairing and replacing the resonance flap.

DIY can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9n...it?usp=sharing

Excellent write up. One of the most worthwhile DIYs out there. Only after replacing these gaskets was my engine leak free.

Hi, thanks for that. I must have driven my car unaware it had vacuum leaks
for many thousands of miles before checking. I found a leaking VRAM vacuum
unit and a leaking y-piece. I also replaced the check valves behind the "tree"
for good measure and the 4-way distribution piece going to the vacuum reservoir.
Then the R&R of the resonance valve. After all that the car was much stronger,
accelerated better and made for smoother shifting.

I put a spring in that 4-way distribution piece. It allows airflow but ensures that it will NEVER collapse again. It only cost about a dollar from Ace Hardware.

+1

I found my car drove vastly superior and pulled nicer through its rev range since the DIY of the Resoonance Flappe and Vacuum Unit Replacement.

Additionally I wish to point out that the Y or TT Pipe was fine in warmer weather, but once into the Fall when driving in cooler weather, my y-piece which was great in 70 degree weather actually drooped in 50 degrees.

Just wanted to share this additional bit of info for others whose cars are driven in colder climates and suddenly find an issue.
Excellent Write Up
Highly detailed
Thanks!!
