Default Grateful for Gerts (FPB) Front Protection Bar

I have to say I was a bit skeptical about Gerts (Carnewal) bar when I first heard about it. After all, my car wasn't significantly lowered and I am very careful about inclines, etc...however after a year plus with it on, I have to say the FPB saved the underside of my front bumper from scrapes or even more serious damage. It has taken some abuse where the paint would have had it not been there.

Well worth installing IMO!!!!

did you have to drill holes in the bodywork to install the bar?

No drilling required.

My car is lowered to close to ROW sport height (Front 138mm, Rear 128mm - Bilsteins & M030).

I wasn't scraping anything before or after I lowered the car, but got paranoid and installed an FPB.

Suddenly, I'm scraping almost every transition I cross...Realized that by installing the FPB I had effectively lowered the car even more and might actually hit something so substantial that it might pull the FPB mounting bolts through the pan....

Removed the FPB and no more scraping....

Turns out that my visual perception is better than an FPB...YRMV

how much lower is the front with the bar installed?

Im worried about the ridges under the floor of the trunk being damaged

IIRC, the OD of the pipe is roughly .75 inches, maybe a little less.

I have one as well. My mechanic has said that I should remove it before it causes more damage that it helps. I haven't removed it yet but probably will some day.

Very useful feedback. I'm thinking about going to ROW sport height, so this is super relevant and helpful to me. Anyone else with similar experiences?

No drilling and no damage. I feel like the bar has probably been ground down thinner now...but agree with others that it probably can also cause scraping in some situations.

I scrape a little more with mine on because the nose of the car is essentially lowered with the bar in place, but it has certainly save me a few time had I not had it on. I think they are great.

I'm of the same opinion.

I view it as a curb-feeler that is setback too far and prefer to rely on visual perception. JMO
