No, if you have 6 speed, you can also push start.

Never had to on the 993, but one summer, I was having problems with the starter on my SC, I push started it on a daily basis.

Push start is the easy way if you got some room to roll a ways.

There is a section in the owners manual on jump starting (at least there is for my '95).

If your battery is dead after 7 days, it may be worth pulling the battery and having it checked. May be time for a new one.

Bogie, did you have your frunk open? Even if it's crack open the light will be on and will drain the battery.

The light in the the engine compartment will do the same thing if the lid is left open.

assuming you have a Becker factory unit, you will need to enter the 4 digit code after power is removed from the radio. Or, does it not even power up now?

Jump starting is in the owners manual.

You hook up + to the battery, - to a body ground, wait 5min, rev the other car then try to start.

Out of interest, why does it suggest connecting the -ve to a body part rather than the -ve battery terminal?

Stewart

When the -ve is grounded there is usually a small spark and if this occurs near the battery it could ignite residual hydrogen gases released from the battery. That would be bad. If you connect on a body ground away from the battery, you minimize the chance of this happening.

Good question! Proper procedure calls for the + lead connected first to the + terminal of the battery. The - lead of the charger should then be connected to a good ground on the car sufficiently away from the battery. The reason being that, if a spark should occur, it will be sufficiently away from the battery to avoid an explosion. Especially important in a Porsche with the fuel tank close by. Any fumes in the "frunk" area could create a bad situation.

I was polishing and spending way too much time primping the car, and left my hood open (not realizing it). So my battery is dead too.

My plan is to jump start this weekend. I would like to add a cigarette lighter style battery drip to her for winter storage.

Can I ask recommedations again?..I know search is my friend but I got so many responses and I know one of you have that perfect model to plug-in.

Many thanks

Porsche Brand Battery Maintainer. Suncoast or many other sources. Easy peasy.
