Default Bittersweet Day - Ruf is Sold

Hi,

After almost 11 years of sweet ownership, the Ruf BTR is sold today. It is staying in the Rennlist family and the new owner is a proven Rufaholic. I know it will be in good hands.

Knowing that I drove less than 1,000 miles a year since 2009, it is time someone else enjoy the Ruf. We also have a gentlemen's agreement that if he resells it, I have right of first refusal to buy it back.

Strange as it may sound, I did not feel particularly heart-broken to see him drive away. All good things must end. I just count my blessing that I had a great 11 year run.

I am sure the new owner will come on here and reintroduce himself. Stay tuned.

Love you all and be safe.

CP

Always liked your car, you seem to have a great outlook.

Good luck with whatever the future brings!

Hi Pong,

You mentioned that you had a potential buyer when we last had dinner - its good news on both sides I think. You are still in the Porsche world with your current ride, and the car was not getting the exercise it needs, so I think its all a good thing!

I know you had this idea of selling it for quite a while, and given your low use, I think that contributed to your lack of sadness to see it go. Besides, the Cayman is much better suited for the type of driving you are doing these days.

Cheers,

Mike

Congrats, CP. I've always admired your perspective (and your car). Best of luck with whatever is next.

Wow. Pong you are a die hard Ruf enthusiast and I'm sure this wasn't an easy decision. All the best to you and to whatever the future holds.

I saw another 993 Ruf the other day and it reminded me of you and your car. I remembered seeing it for sale some time ago, but then it disappeared...glad you eaked a few more years out of it. I've owned my 993 for 10 years and always enjoyed seeing pics of your RUF.

Folks,

Thanks for the kind words. I am blessed with 11 years with my Ruf. I still remember looking for a 993 and ended up with the Ruf BTR. Good thing I did , or I would have traded up a few times already. Absolutely no regrets.

Had a great run, now it is me and my Cayman. It is still a fun ride.

The car that initially connected us.I remember you let me sat in it and felt that seat, and you pointed out all the details that Ruf put in. Amazing car indeed! Definitely going to miss seeing that beauty, so hopefully the new owner will keep us updated

Pong has been such a strong and reasonable contributor to this forum over the years... we are all counting on him sticking around. While I am NOT the lucky buyer of his car, it does happened to be parked on my driveway right at the moment. The new owner is a close friend, and he is indeed a very lucky guy.
