Finally Yoko AD08s, driving report added 28 Oct
i've been wanting to try a set of these for nearly 2 years.
Every time i was ready to buy, they were out of stock, something about the tsunami affecting production.
I waited so long that they changed the compound and are now called AD08R.
Will be burning off the mold release on the drive to Chuckwalla and testing them on Saturday.
235 - 40 and 295 - 30, wish they made 245 - 35s..........................
joy!

AD08's have been the best tires I've ever used. Better than PS2's...but not by much.

Yes, that's what I had them one, they fit fine. However AD08's do run a little wide.
In lap times the AD08 KILL the PS2's out on a Autocross track the AD08's can be 2sec faster, that is a world apart. However the PS2's are softer, smoother and last longer. But turn in a corning grip the AD08's ROCK!

one reference point...................
i last ran AD07s vs NT01s @ the fontana infield track ~ 2 years ago.
i was slightly quicker on 235 / 295 yoko's vs 235 / 275 Nitto's, but I only have - 1.7 / -1.5 camber and the nittos need more to come into their own.
nittos made the car feel looser / funner, but i tend to drive to grip, not slip so i felt more comfortable with the yokos.
this weekend i will compare the yoko's to hankook rs-3s.

Installation and balance on 996 Turbo wheels went great, no more than 2oz weight on any wheel.
I drove nearly 180 miles from home to Chuckwalla Valley Raceway which served to burn off the mold release silicone.
Initial impressions vs AD07s were very favorable;
- I drove out on 35 / 38 front / rear and they seemed to offer a softer, more compliant ride, hmmmmmmmm wonder if turn-in is still as good if sidewalls are not as stiff??
- Definitely quieter than the AD07s, or Hankook V12s / R-S3s for that matter.
I drove in 4 run group sessions. Temp started out @ 50 degrees F and increased to 85 degrees. I’m sure track temp was 100+ for afternoon sessions.
Track time impressions;
- No worries re. turn-in, these tyres were very pointable.
- Great grip!
- Progressive release of grip once slip angle went too far, with plenty of audible feedback.
- Plenty of grip even at end of 20 minute run sessions, (not greasy).
Bottom line = best tyres I’ve used thus far for DE’s. Was hoping to do back-to-back comparison with Hankook R-S3s, but my trailer delivery service flatted on the way out and went home.
I would definitely buy them again.
hmmmmmmm guess I won't ever be able to advertise this car as "never tracked".
